I think Randy and I should camp near BrianG...... :smt003
Sunup won't be until nearly 0705.  I am far more likely to sip coffee rather than look for bait in the dark......  :smt016

...also wanted to remind everyone to have a measuring device handy.

What I use: I marked the handle of my landing net with measurements for =  Salmon , Halibut, cabs, lings and stripers.

 - a simple way: just cut  the end of an old broom stick 18 inches long - you can also use it as a club  :smt002 ...and it also floats if you drop it...

FYI:
Striped Bass

Open year round with a limit of two striped bass and a minimum size of 18 inches. Method of take: No striped bass may be taken while using a sinker weighing over four pounds, or while using any power driven gurdy or winch. Striped bass may only be taken by angling as defined by Section 1.05, Title 14, CCR; snagging is an illegal method of take.

I have a ruler 'tattooed' on my yak.

and if you have to measure it, you best be tossing it back because it will NOT help you win the tournament at Mendo.

I have a $2 tape measure that is clipped to the loop on my lip grip.  As soon as the fish is gripped I can extend the tape and verify its true length.  You can buy the lip grip with a built in tape measure, but it adds a lot to the price.

Shorty stripers are uncommon at Mendo.  Expect fish to be between 24 and 29 inches.

Sean,

Are the shiners sturdy enough to use the "super gulp pump"?

I'm not sure my bait pump battery is charging well...... (and there is no way I am sacrificing my sonar battery)

I've been able to keep macs kicking with the SGP, but it was sort of a pain with them as you had to ladel in water pretty often.

They are so hardy you don't need air as long as you don't overload the bucket.  I usually buy 3-5 for a day, maybe freshen the water a bit every few hours.
