I have a nearly new Abu Garcia 7000i c3 for sale or trade. This is the updated version of the 7000c3 with carbon fiber drags, lever instead of push-button for freespool, and big rubber handle. It is not the newest version which is magged. The reel has only been used two or three times and is in immaculate condition. I originally paid $120 for it.

Ideally, I would like to trade it straight across for an Abu 6501 C3, 6601 C4, or equivalent reel in good condition. Basically I'd like a quality left handed halibut/striper reel, preferably with a clicker. The 7000i is right handed and is a bit big for striper/halibut. It's much better suited for sturgeon or rock fishing.

I prefer to trade rather than sell, but I would probably accept an offer of $85. It's currently spooled with 65lb braid with a 100yd topshot of 20lb Big Game mono. I'm pretty sure I still have the original box and paperwork, but I'll check to be sure.

Here's a picture of the reel if you're wondering about what the model looks like:

Man, that's pretty tempting. The 7000i C3 is my go-to reel for rockfish+lings. Somebody is gonna get a good deal.

Hey,
Did you sell or trade for this reel yet? I really prefer a left hander, but I would go for this if we can figure out what to deal for, or just cash in hand. I have 3 abu garcias now and all are lefty's. I think they are 6500's and 6501's, one I am continuing to have a release button problem with one of them-it sticks even after a $40.00 tune up at Pure Fishing which handles all warranty repairs for Abu's. Let me know what your situation is and I'm sure we can figure something out. I have lot's of high-end camping gear I would also trade.  Mike

I prefer a lefty too so we can probably work something out. Unfortunately they never made the 7000c3i in a lefty. Are your reels C3's or C4's? Also, do any of them have the upgraded drags or bearings? If so, I would be willing to trade straight across. Otherwise I'd be willing to simply sell the reel for $85.

Hey FJ,
I checked my reels and they are fairly old and like I said the one has a slight problem with the free spool button. Are you familar with how to keep it from sticking/staying in the down position? Is $85.00 your rock bottom price-times are tough right now. Where are you located, I am in santa cruz, work in Fremont, and sometimes hang in the city with my girlfriend.  Mike

Jay does the lever flip when you reel in or do you have to flip it?
Thanks for the thread     Mike

Yes, the lever does flip when you crank.

Hate to do this, but I took the reel out yesterday and cleaned it up and really gave it a good look, and decided I think I need to hold on to this reel for now. The reel is just too perfect, and it has 300 yds of brand new, never used PowerPro on it. After the closer look I just don't think I can let it go for $85.

Sorry about that.  :smt011 Right now I'm trying to decide if I am going to keep the reel after all, or bring it to the AOTY gear swap.
