Really!  Quite a haul there Stoggie.  I love that vintage gear.  We have to get Sincoast to go and show us how it's really done.....or that might be "where" it's really done.  I just could not get away from the snag factor, or I would have fished much longer.  The one big hit I got was a real fish.

Cool report.  I almost forgot what it's like to fish from shore ever since I discovered fishing from a kayak.

If you guys go poke-poling, please let me know.  I've wanting to try it for some time.

I'm also up for a polin trip...  it's a blast, like being a kid again.

Nice to see Ole Miss Bean again, thanks!

hey, Allen, I think I saw you as you were leaving. We got to Bean much later than you, between 10:30 and 11:00. I didn't see any NCKA gathering, so I went and fished off the rocks on the north end and lost 3 or 4 rigs before the tide got too high for me to stay, then moved to the sand beach and soaked some bait in the cove while having lunch. I caught nothing, no bites even. I used squid and shrimp. I think I need to try this again with one of you guys who knows how to do it.

Thanks for the report. It's nice to hear some rockfish repots this time of the year.

I'd be interested in a poling trip, too. I have a PVC pole set up already. Just waiting for someone to post a hookup thread.

Blake I think you have "the spots" down there for shore fishing don't you?

Maybe we can get together for some shore casting soon....

I was out at the bean yesterday late morning, (High tide was receding maybe 10am ish) walked out onto he beach to the left of the picnic tables and with my small rod I tossed squid strips into the surf.  While dodging the waves, I had no hit, but did manage to land a really small (No bigger than an inch across) crab.  He latched on to that squid.  Next few casts, I got hung up on some rocks.
I put the small rod away and broke out my 10 footer.  Still tossing squid strips, I tried a few different areas on the left beach.  Wave action was high,  and got no nibbles, hits or bites.  After loosing 5 setups to snags I called it off headed home.
Was supposed to fish out of HMB SB but buddy backed out very last minute, so tried to make the best of it.  I actually drove out to HMB SB but decided not to go into the park and on my back to Santa Cruz I stopped at Waddle creek beach and tossed some squid, for nada, then pomponio beach, same thing, nothing.  The bean was my last stop.
