Lol, I laugh at my gps tracking paths, I look like an erratic confused paddler.  :smt005 :smt003 :smt044
That's EXACTLY why I want one of the new models(trackable) You think that looks erratic. :smt002

Hey Jeff,

Nice to read a report from you. Glad to see you are getting out there and enjoying yourself. You have two more trips than me this year. I have been busy lately but looking forward to getting back on the water with you again. I know who my fishing buddy is going to be should we get out there in the fog again, "Jeff and his new GPS"!  :smt001

I just got my Humminbird 525 fishfinder and I am ready to install it. I sent the transom mount transducer back to Humminbird and they exchanged it at no cost for the Thru-Hull transducer. This should make for a nice clean installation.

Hope to see you soon,
Ray

Superb report, glad thats working out for you bro, looks like a fun paddle.

The other day I got my first semi long board session in. Lesson 1 was never take off late on steep faces....end result was a nice fat bloody lip from where the nose of the board kissed me.  :smt001

Ray, that's the same fishfinder I have on my P15, someday I will buy the scupper transducer, but the one I'm using mounted to the rudder bracket has been working great for me, let's hook up soon and so some fishing. I may try to go out Sunday, not sure yet...

Art, I think we both benifited from the trade it sounds like. I love the gps, and it sounds like the surfboard finally got wet after 3 years of sitting lol. Hows it doing for you?

Aside from the minor instance of user error I'm very pleased.

Nice report Jeff, when the water slows down a little you can get past the rapids up river, the wife and I have made it. It's a nice little paddle.. We caught some nice bass there.

Your trip looked soothing... peaceful...a good for the spirit type paddle...gotta have that once in awhile...fish'll be there sooner or later.

hey, Jeff -  I thoroughly enjoyed reading another one of your great reports!   Loved your pics and video.   I found myself bracing and holding the sides of my chair as your video approached the rapids.
I am tempted to go back there with my fly rod and play with those blue gills.   Good fun on a light rod.
Hope to see you again back out on the water in 09.

Lawrence, I hope to get on the water with you too this year. I really want to get some fly fishing time down. As soon as the lake de-ices I am going to do some flyfishing at Lake Alpine. I'd like to hook up with you so you can show me some pointers.

hey, Jeff  -  it would be my pleasure!   I have extra fly gear you can try out and plenty of flies.

As part of the stimulus package, I just ordered a boat load of conventional gear, which I have no idea how to use.   Maybe you could give me some pointers some time.   I hear all kinds of terms thrown around - buzz baits, swimbaits, crank baits, spinner baits - but no idea when to use what.

Alpine would be good after ice-out.   We can also toss flies for the bass or blue gills in the delta when the water warms up.

Yeah no problem. I'd love to flyfish the delta in the spring for all the plentiful small bass cruising the shallows. And I could show you how to use the conventional stuff. I'll let you know when the delta is ready.  :smt003

I went back there one time and caught a bunch of bass on poppers over the weedbeds, and then got stripers at one of the inlets.
I took my son another time, and the blue gills were so thick on the surface i thought it was raining.   But that day, all i had were stripers flies and nothing to feed the blue gills.   Bummer.   I am not sure who would have had more fun with the blue gills - my son or me.

Awesome, I'd have a blast with the blue gills on a fly pole, maybe even more with a striper. I'll soon find out!
