I went on a non Yak trip January 1, had to get some fishing in somewhere.

Went to Oroville for a few days for the season opener of Steelhead.
Caught a nice fat 7 lb. bull.

If you've never been to Oroville it is great access to the river but Oroville is the arm pit of calif.

I have never seen so many young women with no teeth! Must be a bad bunch of crack or meth addicts there. Free entertainment every night at the hotel, the crazies would come out at night and fights, cops etc happened at all hours of the night.

One night at 3:00 a.m., we were awoken to the sound "Oroville Police! Let me see your hands"

Apparently there was a fight and the guy in one of the rooms threw furniture out the window and broke a bunch of other windows.

this place could be a running series on "Cops"

Fun time had by all.

Anyway check out the hog in the pic, caught him wading on the Feather river with a worm.

Stoggie

Nice report. Not sure which I enjoyed more; the actual fish or your nice description of the surrounding chaos!
OK, I'll go with the fish.  :smt007  Good job!

There are good places to stay. The town itself is ok, but there are a lot of strange people. Kind of like a redneck santa cruz. I let my buddy make the reservations and he picked the cheapest place in town. I was ok with that, i was only there to fish anyway.

Access to the river is easy just below the green walking bridge for a couple miles. Just park under the bridge via the hatchery entrance.

I saw a lot of nice fish come out of there.

I will definatelly go back. I found out i need to burn an extra day every month this year cause i have too many days accrued, so i guess there will be a bunch of three day weekends. Too bad, guess i'll go fishing more.

It sucks to be me

Stoggie
