OK all you IC-M34 owners this is the response I got back from icom I hope it helps  :smt006

PS I just checked out mine and yes the Power saver was on I just turned it off will have to Waite to see if it helped.

Look to see if you, and the others, have the power save function turned on. If the Power Save mode is on the radio will go into a hibernation state and it takes a second or two worth on transmission to het them back into the normal "on" dtate.


This is the PS parameter in the set mode which starts on page 17 of the Instruction Manual.

I owned the Uniden Voyager and will say the 6 - AA battery case leaks which is why I got rid of it. The West Marine VHF which I currently own is OK but the lack of a channel lock is frustrating.

I have the West Marine VHF. It does have a channel lock. Mine accidentally switched to that setting, and now I can't unlock it!
