Hit the water about 9:00 this morning.Arrived shorty before that at Monterey Bay Kayaks.Loaded up the crab pod for the first time.I don't like the way it weighs in on the hull of the yak! Its not that big of a Pod maybe 7lbs. Maybe its mental.Anyway ran into A few NCKA brothers,I have never met before, which was really cool ..One from the East Coast, one from Seaside, and one from Hollister..Grandpa21,Hoppy, and ....Damn!! I forgot your name.. :smt012..So anyway paddled out to the spot and dropped the pod.Fished for about two hours the checked it. One Red rock which was pretty big.All others were throw backs :smt013.. Awesome experience for A first timer.Caught some blues mostly realeased One nice fat one, pics will follow latter... Nice day on the water with some nice company.. Nice fishing with you Hoppy.. :smt006..See ya on the water.....Andy

Hey FM1,

Glad you gave it a go. Perseverance furthers as my mother would say. Keep at it and you'll nail 'em eventually.

I'm hoping to make it up to Del Valle next Saturday if the weather holds. Wanna join me? I'll bring the beer?!?! Monster trout and dinky stripers....lemme know.

Fish Master 1 nice to meet you today and enjoyed the day on the water at MBK. The conditions were sunny , warm air temp and for a while very little wind. Good luck on the crab pots and keep me posted. While the fishing for me was not so great the pictures and just being on the water was great. Enjoyed your company and advice.

What's the "pod" about, FM?  I haven't heard of that.  Thanks for the report and good luck on the crabs.

Great photos, hoppy.   :smt001

Man, when you texted me on Sunday morning, I didn't realize you were actually ON the water! I was OTC (on the couch) hahaha but I might've joined the fun if I knew you were out there. Good job on the keeper and those rockies. Dungeness crab are jsut about the only thing that my wife WANTS me to go catch. So I'm hoping to get out there this wknd. Let me know if you go.
Thanks for the report(s) guys!

Well I went back to retrieve my pot yesterday 11-3 after soaking it 24hrs... Learned A few things....Always I mean Always double check to make sure you have your license attached to your person...Like A dumb Ass I left mine in the truck....I was to far out to turn around and get it. Second.....If the water looks crappy its 10x worse when you get out there!!!!! The wind was howling and pushing me out towards my pot which was cool until I had to turn around and go back!!! It took me around 1:45 min to do A paddle that I usually do in around 15 min...It was A Bitch!!!I ended up dumping all the Keepers into the drink, for I didn't want to chance A ticket!! After doing so I realized that I more than likely would have received A ticket anyway...O well I felt better that way....I Know were they are now so thats the only good thing I got from the trip....I don't like the feeling of leaving my pot out there unsupervised!! I was dreaming about it all night.... Until next time. See ya on the water ...Andy
