What did I do to piss you off this time!!!

Last year my son borrowed my yak and was down by the monterey aquarium and one jumped right onto the back of the yak. He smaked it with the oar and it slid back off. He said it nearly dumped him. Glad he didn't take it any further.

  I think I ran into that same pair four days earlier a mile off the lighthouse at the end of the reef.
     
  I was jigging and not moving ,the big one came up about 15 ' off the kayak bow and  instead of peeling off with attitude like usual, the thing just sat there eyeing me like a junkyard dog with rabies. Kinda scary,  yup. It's mouth was actually hanging open in a kinda snarl.  I didn't move  ,did nothing, and it left after about 30 seconds. Whew! The small one stayed off.
    I thought  it had domoic acid poisoning  or was brain damaged from last year by same or anyway from something else. Never had anything like that happen before.Really nasty looking.Actually nasty, like it had broken glass in it's stomach or something. Maybe he was pissed at being in a rut?

  Evidently  it had scared all the fish away as well  because all I caught after a long day was four small gopher.
