Scwafish got in touch about his plans to go halibut hunting with Fishim, so I called Matt and we hit the water early.  The water was silky smooth and the fog stayed a little higher than last time, so we could see where we were going.  The morning bite proved to be much better than last time's slow afternoon bite.  We got into boiling blacks that were breaking water for hours around us - got a little good action footage of the blacks jumping out of the water for a later video.  It was one of those days where you could cast just about anything and get a black or a blue on the line - we were wishing we had a fly rod or some ultralight trout gear.  We soon changed over to heavier gear and targeted the bottom dwellers.  The lingcod bite was still not off the hook, but I landed three and missed several others on short bites or brief battles that came unplugged.  Matt landed his first yak ling but it was short, so he's still hungry for that keeper.  Sean and Mark arrived and paddled out within a few hundred yards of us and were on a mission.  We spoke briefly on the radio and wished them luck.  We fished on until around 11 and I had to bail home for family stuff on the holiday.  Matt had at least 7 double hookups and was stoked to catch around 3 dozen fish.  I ended with many blacks, many blues, a couple chinas, a couple reds, and the three lings.  I kept one bomber 20" black.  The cold beer on the beach and great weather on the ride home made for a great start to the holiday weekend.  Can't wait for the next trip!   :smt001

Dude?!..you are making me want to drop it all, go get my Yak and go JIG me up some FISH!....your the Larry Flint of KayakFishPorn!(someone has called you that previously) I'm just reiterating it.
Congrads' Matt on your first underling! hopefully it's a WARM-UP for a Biggun'!

AK..we sure have been lucky to get out in the calm conditions that "Mother" has provided us lately...soon the water will warm and maybe the larger predators will show in force...and eat our offerings!

...again, thanks for investing the effort&time in sharing your place of peacefulness. :smt002

Hi Abking,

Thank you for the great video! We need to hook-up at the cove again after I return from the Alaska kayak fishing trip.  I'll bring some "fresh frozen" Salmon for you and my friends at the cove.  I'll contact you when I got back.

Nice video as usual Eric, thanks!
Considering the underlings I have had in the boat and released this season, I would have kept that 28er!  :smt003
