got to the beach a 6am, there was a light breeze blowin in so I knew after a while its gonna be WINDY. Launched off the north side of the beach and headed south. First spot was very slow, no drift and no fish.  just kept moving around till I started catching a mix of black and blues and a few olives but no lings, so I move further south a bit and am soon joined by a bunch of power boats out of Albion.  I finaly start cathing some small lings, 3 I think, then I catch a nice one about 28 to 30 in. cool, I stuck him with the gaff in his lower jaw, no problems very mellow fish. So he's laying there at my feet nice a calm while I'm fidling with the game clip, thinking this fish is about to go ape shit on me, just then thats what he does, so I'm trying to pinn him down with both feet and splash the basturd escaped, oh well ain't the first and won't be the last.  Wind started blowing harder and the drift was getting a bit too fast.  I got hung up on bottom, took some work but  I got it to pop loose, felt very heavy coming up, no tugs just dead weight, I'm thinking a big rock or something, shimp fly has a small blue and the big gitzit has this huge copper, biggest I've ever seen almost 22 in over 6 lbs.  Now the drift is really moving so I call it a day, back to the beach by noon with 6  blacks, 1 blue, 1 olive and one huge copper

Nice work on the report and photos.  It's always nice to pull up a fatty rockfish like that Copper.  Nice choppy water shots too.   :smt001

You're finding quality when you do get out there, too bad on the "escapie",but you made up for it on the felt-like-a-snag-double up!
....it's been a tough hunt for me so far...I'm getting a bit jealous now :smt003

Nice work.  Navarro can be a difficult place to fish.

Norm, I never heard them called Chuckleheads before.  We just always called them Coppers.  I also have never caught that many of them, and, come to think of it, most of the ones I've caught were out of Navarro.
