Just wanted to share this.

A while back when the new yak was on the way I really wanted to make the FF portable so I could use it across the small group of yaks building up in the garage. I'd come up w/ a few ideas but nothing that really fit all my needs. So when in doubt, go to the OG's for advice. Thanks SCWA and ChuckE! :smt003

First, SCWA got me going w/ the KISS battery rig made by GWKC. It's a brilliant rig in that it's completely sealed and waterproof so that you don't need a drybag or box for it. It also has a waterproof wire connector so all you need to do is connect it and throw it in the hull. I then glued the foam transducer puck to the hull to make that semi-permanent. Lastly, I used the RAM mast mount for the FF and tucked the wires under the hatch.

I've taken it on the water and really happy how it turned out.

Looks nice, Z!  I think I'll start my own kayak fleet just so I have an excuse to make a system just like yours... :smt003

Nice setup Z.
How many kayaks are in a stable? How many in a fleet? Sounds like you are growing a stable fleet of your own LOL!

I bought extra transducers and installed them into each kayak (w/thru-hull fittings for the connectors, battery, etc). And installed a micro-RAM ball on the deck of each kayak. So all I have to do is attach the head-unit (Humm Matrix 27) to the RAM of whichever kayak I choose to paddle. And plug in the battery, of course.
But, yeah, if/when I sell a kayak, the transducer goes with it (and those buggers are expensive unless you buy them used on eBay like me!).

I made a similar system, except not dependent on a hatch for the battery.....see:
