got the green light for fishing two days this weekend. :smt007  First day coral street with my son.  Hard fishing for a few small rockfish.  Water was really clear, and while tied up in the kelp, you could see the rockfish shallow just looking at you.  Place a piece of bait in their area, they cruise up and turn away as if you offered a Big Mac to a french chef.  When I landed talked to a few scuba divers who said they saw some nice fish in the area, so they are there, just not interested in biting.  One other yakker has 5 fish or so.  Also saw a free diver.  Never though much about it but they not only look like a seal in the water, but sound like it when they clear their snorkels.

Second day, capitola.  Fished hard for 1 ling, 2 grass, and one rock crab on valium.  I have never seen a living thing move less.  No butts, couldnt even find bait.  The good news was that it was warm, with just enough swell to make landing a little fun.  Got home and my older son offered to detail my truck.  Couldnt ask for more on Father's Day.

Oh and on the pics, long ago a wise Japanese man told me that all good Japanese men have a fishing pole and a camera.  I finally bought the camera.  I have it in my dry bag.  Now I just need to remember to bring it out and actually snap some shots and remember to wipe the lens of the water that MADE MY PICS LOOK LIKE !!$#@#$%.

my thoughts for the week.."be more like abking, alshobie, sackyak"

couldnt sabiki any bait.  Saw a few ripples and pops but nothing hit.  Ling took a frozen chovy on a halibut rig, as did the two rockfish.

Doubles are the best. You can find out how truly exhausted you can become. I am jealous of the truck detailing, my car is filthy from all the ashes of the nearby fires. It sounds like a different world at Capitola. I launched there on Friday and ran into thick anchovies right off the end of the pier. Then there were large schools of sardines and macks right off the edge of the kelp line along opal cliff to soquel point. At least you got a ling out of the deal all I got was a 200lb pissed off seal lion which ate a live sardine with several hooks in it. It is really hard to keep up with a seal jumping out of the water full speed. I did get within 10+- feet before I cut the line.

You're off the hook!...you hit the three paragraph minimum for pic-less reports and you hook'd some fish too.  :smt007
