I won a 761M 7'6" rod rated 10-20# at BAM.  It should be a good rod for hard fighting yellows, tuna, and wsb, but it's a little on the stiff side for around here.

The 701M 7' rod rated 15-30# is made with E-glass, so it's got a nice softer tip which makes it great for jigging and detecting light sturgeon bites.  I think the 701M is a better all-around rod.  It's also less expensive ($99) than the graphite models which all retail for $119.

Agree 100%.  The ML is a sweet rod for rockies though!

The ML is a lot like my favorite Trevala jigging jod, with two pluses 1) it floats and 2) it's 6" longer.  A definte winner!

The 761ML and 701M is high on my wishlist!!!

I got the 8-15lb...don't (remember the wgt.) just for an all-purpose BayRod.
Would you use that for RF?
It would be hard to put 15lbs. of pressure on it durring a FISH battle, but would be a real BENDER on them Cabs, Verms and Zillas!
whut do you think fellas?

When given a line weight range, I always thought the optimum weight would be somewhere in the middle, not that you can't use the rod at its extreme rating. I went with the BK-C-761L and BK-S-761L since I expect most of my fishing to be freshwater for a while.

I think the 8-15 would be great for rockfish and would make for some thrills when you hook into any good-size lings.

Does the leash loop work in a flush mount or does it get in the way?
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

good ?  The $99.oo'ers 701M's (mine 30-50lbs.) has a FAT but and won't fit my Scotty holder...but it teeters in there nicely, like a Sturgeon balancer!
the lighter rated ones are thin-but'ed and should fit, but will have to do some tests.......stand by for results! :smt044
