With the salmon shut-down and speculation of another short rockfish season I've been contemplating how I'm going to maximize my enjoyment this year on the water.  More ab diving comes to mind - those mid-Fall runs to Fish Bay were a blast...  More fishing off the reef and more spearfishing when it's clear enough go right along with the abbing.  I really want to keep the yaks involved in the fun though, so I've decided to do as many Roleez trips as I can.  Hauling Roleez down the beach a couple of miles is a great time - anyone wanting a true adventure should consider it.

In the loftier goals department, I'd like to get a Pacific Halibut...   :smt002

I might have to organize a Lost Coast backpacking/Roleez trip.  Any other psycho's out there that think that sounds fun?   :smt001

Mtn Biking. I have a lot of experience on the trails at Coe. Its a blast early in the year when the trails are soft and the temp is below 80* I've biked to Kelly Cabin Lake and Coit Lake from the green bridge behind Coyote Lake. The bass fishing was incredible. That was in May.

Lost Coast rolleez trip sounds fun. (although I still don't have a rolleez cart) Or, maybe cart the yaks to a remote Sierra trout lake. Or a kayak-in camp trip in the Sierras!!! I really want to do that this year. 2 good options would be Loon Lake off HWY 50 near Tahoe or Lake Edison near Fresno.

My friend keeps telling me that I have to fish Bucks Lake. http://www.fishsniffer.com/maps/buckslake.html  I keep telling him that I want to.  Maybe this is the year that I actually do.

Bucks Lake is awesome.   :smt007 I have a trip planned there with a couple of friends this June. It would also be a cool kayak-in camping location because the whole NE side of the lake is wilderness area.

I'll be sure to post some pics when I get back  :smt003

I think a new triathalon is born:

#1 - 2 mile kayak portage to camp and launch site
#2 - 1/4 mile swim to abalone and spearfishing site
#3 - 10 mile drive to nearest microbrew :smt044
