The swells were up today. I drove from Santa Cruz to Coral street with surfboard and dive gear.
Buddy Mike convinced me to drive a littler further, he did not have a surfboard and wanted to dive.
Pulled over at Monastery Beach to find the swell passing right by, and calm waters!
Visibility was about 15 to 20 feet.
I ended up spearing a rockfish and a rainbow surfperch.
Mike got a pile surfperch. This fish is fatter than the rainbow, better for frying whole, Mae Ploy, you know wusup!
Awesome day, just got lucky on finding a dive spot. See Pics.

Good job on finding a spot to dive.  I've been wanting to get out there for a few weeks now but my dive buddy has turned into a snow bunny.  :smt003

I know these guys know the boundaries, but if anyone is looking to dive here, make sure you know where the MLPA ends.  Areas that were open at the beginning of last year are off-limits now!   :smt009

Thanks guys! Sure was a nice wknd in Carmel.

And thanks Fuzz, I was gonna say the same thing. Just amke sure you paddle out past the first rock outcropping on the north side of the beach. That is where the Pt Lobos SMR extends to. You can see the rock outcropping in the background of that first picture.
