Has anyone heard anything on this tournament for this year? It's been a popular Surfperch fishing event in past years normally held in early February.

SCAllen should have info on it. I did a quick search on fishsniffer and found a report from the 2007 Sand Crab Classic. And guess who it is? NCKA's Fish Flogger! Good report, Deva.

I will probably try to sign up this year; was too late last year. I have no chance of winning but the money goes to a great cause, the Monterey Bay Trout and Salmon Project. http://www.mbstp.org/

Thanks for the reminder, Ben!

Thanks for the support, guys.

Mike and I are just now setting a date for the derby.  Probably the end of February, like the 23d?

Anyway, it is a limited entry list, max of 100 anglers due to space limitations at the SC yacht club.  I will be sure to announce on this board as soon as we open up for entrants, so NCKA'rs can get the jump.  Anyone who was in the contest last year will get an email.  At that point, it's up to you to get a check in the mail with the completed entry form, just as soon as possible.

Last year we topped out in 3 days.

We wish we could expand the entries #, but the yacht club is the only place at SC harbor to have the banquet and raffle-party, so we are stuck with the limits.  Fish Flogger handled the photos last year thanks again (this was in his pre-yakking days  LOL)

Anyway, as soon as we formally set the date, I will announce here.  Make sure to obsessively read and re-read this forum every single day (as if you are not doing that already yuk yuk)
