Were any of you affected by them?  Power outages, Internet outages? Trees down?  My neighborhood in Felton lost power Early Friday morning, and with it cable, so my wife, was without internet.  (Would not want to be PG&E people on phone with her!)
I left work at 3:15pm and due to mudslide on 17 and too many trees down, took me 4hr and 130miles to get home. (Normal is 35 miles) Once home, got my little 1850Watt Coleman generator started, and plugged in the important things, fridge (keeping beer cold) and the TV & DVD, and lamp.
Power came back on finally Saturday night 9pm, cable (internet) was out until Sunday afternoon.  This series of storms allowed me to check "run time" for my little generator.  Tank capacity is 1 gal, and most I filled was about 7/8 gal, on that, the generator ran for 5.5hr. there was approx 1/2" of gas left in tank after the 5.5 hr run when the power finally came back on.
Really only load on the generator was the fridge, when it kicked on. Other than using the generator, we were set on supplies.  (Beer stayed cold)
There are still places up in the San Lorenzo valley that are out of power till possibly tomorrow.

At work, our Chico site was closed due to downed trees blocking the parking lot entrance and no power. Redding site was down because of no power. 3 out of 4 the sites in Lodi were intermitent with power going in and out. Our SF building had to close the main entrance because water was running in and the wind was forcing some water in to the building through window drain channels.

I lost power for about 18 hrs at home. My aunt across the street that doesn't have a fireplace or stove was freezing. I lit candles and cooked pasta over the wood stove trying to build some GAF.

Troy,

I feel for you. I was moderately bummed when I had do do a 7-8 mile detour because of a downed tree.

We spent a bit of time on Saturday taking care of small downed limbs, and trimming some more. Other than that, no issues.

We lost power for a while on Saturday night, a stack of cardboard wrapped in plastic for an archery target blew apart, and a potted cactus on my patio tipped over.  That was it.  ;)

Part of my backyard fence fell down. And the spark arrestor on the chimney blew off, violently crashing to the ground in the driveway where my Mustang is usually parked....I got home about 15 minutes after that happened! It would've crushed the car for sure. My wife was home at the time and said it sounded like a plane crashed on the roof!

But what good is a post w/out pics? I'll take some fence pics tonight!

It was wild and wooly up in Bonny Doon. Power went out Friday @ 7:30am and stayed out until 2:30pm Sunday. The wife & I both had to skip work on Friday due to road closures, mudslides, downed trees & 3 downed electrical wires in the roadway. The transformer at the corner of our property gave a nice shower of green sparks around noon friday. Saturday evening & Sunday afternoon we got snow/sleet showers that left just enough white stuff on the deck for a cabin feverish sled dog to bite at :smt003.
On Friday the felton cutoff was closed, ice cream grade was closed, Alba was closed, and Empire grade was closed in 2 different places at least. We ventured out to town on Saturday for a hot tub & pizza, then took Pine flat/Bonny Doon road home, but it was closed just minutes from our house due a falled fir about 2' in diameter. Davy Tree was on the scene with saws, but I opted to take the back roads and finally made it home.
Thanks to a gas stove, gas BBQ grill, a great woodstove and a little stored water we made it through the storms in pretty much the style to which we have become accustomed.
I think it may be time for a propane generator though.....

I would be solar if I didn't live in a redwood forest.  Partial solar anyhow.  I have 5 panels 2 one kind 2 of another and 1 arco for about 15 amps.  Can't use them.
Being off grid won't help my cable internet when it goes out.

I was scheduled to have Lasik done Friday morning. On the way there I joked with my wife..."wouldn't it be my luck if the power goes out while I'm under the laser"...hahaha.

We get to the office at 7am and the wind is effing howling. It set my wifes car alarm off a couple times.
I'm second to go in and I joke with the cute nurse..."what if the power goes out?" I ask.
She said they have back-up power.....ugh.

I'm second to go in. First guy gets through ok, then my turn. I get through ok...thank you Lord.

The lady that's number three in line goes to the laser room while I'm in post-op. The power goes off at least 4 times while she's in there. Lights flickering on and off, alarms buzzing..the works. It sounded crazy. I hope she got through ok too.

Got home and took a happy pill. Slept through the rest of the day.

Power was off for 5 days in my part of Felton. No phone, electric, cable, heat or water most of those days. A redwood tree fell across my yard and pulled down all the wires. They were stretched tight and were just a few feet off the ground. My kayaks were covered with branches, but the tree was dangling just above them and didn't hit them.

I think I would rather lose power for 5 days than deal with a bad case of poison oak! Those PO twigs are hard to avoid in the winter.
