just a short spearing report from otter cove. the water was cold but clear. lots of small rowboats full of guys fishing from them in the cove. did my diving from 25 - 50-60 feet and it was pretty clear. surface vis was bad but down past 10 feet it cleared up a lot and the surface light penetrated well. right now the kelp is starting to get more sparse and breaking apart and disappearing, the rocks dont have a lot of growth on them and the fish were hiding because saturday was in between swells. saw mostly rf and lots of greenlings as well as many seals. lots with tags on their flippers.

i didnt fire my gun a single time this day. i felt lucky to have such good vis between the swells and enjoyed just looking at everything. i really should have brought my camera this day.

i had not been to otter cove in a while but realized i sure did miss it. i always liked the terrain there.

Thanks for the report, John!
Sometimes its not about the catching, like you just proved.

Spearfishing season is open all year. Just lings close on Nov 30. But you can still get rockfish, cabs, and greenling. I bet there will be a lot more kayakers getting into spearing this winter if we get more days like Saturday!!!

Thanks,
PK
