In my case, money was an issue. And the deal on the Tarpon was just too good to pass up.

I definitely took the poll responses into consideration. But I believe NKCAers are a little biased towards Prowlers (and understandably so---they're awesome boats) so that factored into my interpretation of poll results too.

All thing being equal, I chose the Tarpon because of the dryer ride, the flat footwells, better back support, more comfortable, less-cluttered deck, and sturdier hull construction. I really like the back support because I've had some back problems lately. And the dry ride; my Drifter collects so much water in the seatwell/footwells. And the flat footwells are key because I plan to flyfish from my kayak and this allows me to get up onto my knees for better casting.

I'm not saying everything is better…because I know there are problems with the Tarpon too, like the crappy hatches. And the weight.

I can hardly wait to take her out for the maiden voyage! Crappy swell forecast be damned. Watch out rockfish, I'm comin for ya.

Just got back from Coral, nothing to report. Very bad swell  :puke:. Was going to try and hook up with Bulldog. Read his thread a little too late to respond but didn't see him at Coral either. Swung by San Carlos on the way home. Didn't look too bad. I might try there in the morning. Might go out Saturday morning, not sure where yet. Last month for rock fishing.

Ben,

I think that both are fine boats, but you may be mistaken about the dryer ride of the Tarpon. I don't find much difference between my T160 and my Scupper ( a notoriously wet boat) . The P15 up in AK is probably the driest of the bunch. I personally didn't vote, as there's a lot of subjectivity in boat choice, such that either boat would be better for a particular individuals needs.

I agree that both are fine boats and that PK will enjoy his new ride very much. I believe  your thread was meant for Sin Coast though. I didn't say anything about a dryer ride. That was PK's comment :smt001 I must say that it doesn't matter what PK is paddling, the rock fish in this area fear this angler :smt003
