Hey Everyone

Just in from a last minute run off Monterey Plaza Hotel. Worth my
time! Launched from S.C. Beach @ 5pm. SHORT paddle to first kelp,
maybe 10ft. deep. Worked copper colored grubbs w/orange split tail.
Limit of fair sized Yellows, Chinas and Blues. No "special" take downs,
but one of those outtings that was just meant to be... Doesn't
always go down like that... Nagging red tide still about, I was thinking
bait, but grubbs took care of biz. I wonder what real effect(s) red
tides have on ground fish? I know what I've seen, no real conclusions... Anyone else?

Good job on them rockies BK!
Sometimes all you need is a leadhead and a few grubs. Its like the old K.I.S.S rule. Especially when they're working so good!

The red tide depletes the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water. Most likely causing the RF to seek out deeper, colder water that has higher/normal levels of O2. If the red tide is especially thick, fish WILL move to a different location. Although, it probably affects RF least because it tends to accumulate within the top layer of water (warmer) and RF are generally bottom dwellers.

Thanks for the report,
PK
