When do the Kings Move in or are they already there?

Danglin - years ago (...bare with me!) I saw a Humboldt County Historical Society meeting on video where the old-timers were recounting how, back in the day (right after WWII?...), EVERYONE at Camp Weott (which is down by Ferndale and used to be people's little river cabins before the 55 and 64 floods destroyed it all and filled the river in) would catch salmon on Labor Day in the river.  When the Eel was great it had a huge estuary with very deep holes and lots and lots of habitat.  Now it's filled in, so even if the early runs of fish aren't extinct, they don't want to hang out in the river like they would normally.  So presumably there are an unknown number of really big fish hanging out just outside the mouth, and they do come in and out with the tide.  As I said, it's very very hard to get them to bite, but the Eel has always been known for it's big kings (and steelhead).  50 pounders were once common...

Abking, you are going to make one heck of an old-timer some day,  :smt044.

you are a young-timer and your stories are already good,  :smt044

logs in waves are killers, no doubt. that would be an issue. along with the current,
and sharks. but they are probably surfable some days.

I just might have to rent a house up there for a couple months in the spring or
something and explore this strange land you call northern california!  :smt005.

keep posting those adventures!

I am not 100% positive that the aforementioned reference IS indeed from Super Troopers. You'll have to confirm with the mendo crew because I think it was first used by them.
Regardless, you should go rent that movie meow. You'll enjoy it.

Hey Abking - try this link for the Meow - http://www.dailyhaha.com/_vids/super_troopers_meow.htm

and the text:http://www.moviemistakes.com/film1849/quotes

How it applies here I seem to have missed . . .

The Mendo Crew has two Sheriffs = Andy / Kicking Bass and Dan / Mahi Mahi......the "meow" started with Dan....doing the "meow" thing every now and then on his posts...it has no meaning but somehow it seems to fit in  :smt003

I have been a volunteer pouring wine at benefit events with Dan (Van as he is sometimes called at these events) and he is very funny, besides knowing good wine!
