General Talk / Price Check, Isle Three
« on: February 21, 2024, 12:54:20 PM »
Hey all, long time no speak  :smt006
So it's finally time, we have not used our kayaks in a long time and TBH, only used them on 6-7 trips since we purchased them new but due to health issues, I am going to sell everything.  i've been out of the loop and wanted to check if the pricing seemed good before I post anything.  I was thinking of asking $1,600.00 OBO for the following:

2x Malibu  X-13 Fishing Kayaks (has 4 factory flush mount rod holders ),  front live well hatch and middle storage hatch and trolley system, installed
2x  Harmony kayak seats   (one with Skwoosh gel pad)
2x Werner Tybee paddles with leashes
2x Eagle Cuda 350 fishfinder / GPS units installed
2x water proof battery box for GPS  (Kayak Fishing Supplies) with 4x new batteries
2x Milk Crates with lids for storage
2x large tire Wheeleez
2x sm tire Wheeleez
2x Malone Car top J kayak holders
1x Malone TelosXL lift for Malone carriers
2x anchors for trolly system
2x drift socks for trolly system
2x Scotty extended rod holder arms with Scotty rod holders
2x Kayak Pumps
2x Promar collapsable net with leashes

Do you think this is a good price to offer to get them sold?

Let me know what you think and if we are on track, I'll work on getting pics this weekend and post them soon

Thanks all and hope everyone is doing great.

General Talk / Probably going to sell it all
« on: July 28, 2019, 12:38:16 PM »
It is sad for me to say, but due to a lot of reasons, I will be selling both Shannon's and my Malibu X-13's and all the gear with them.   We have not paddled in probably 10 years now.
My question is how do you find the value of the yaks and gear for a resell price?  I'm probably going to let them go cheap just to move, but would  like to get an idea of worth.

I've still been fishing but mainly boat and shore and will honestly miss my time in the yak, it was a ton of fun and I met some good friends in the process.

Thanks all,
Surf-

General Talk / Been away for far to long

Hey all-    :smt006

Lots been going on over the last year.  Have not taken the yak out but hope to do so this season.  got laid off a year ago and things have been crazy since.  got a new job, better pay.  I ended up using all of my severance package and sold some stock so Shannon and I are officially home owners now!  Now it seems we have no free time what so ever.  Stoopid things to do lists.
Hopefully we can get things un-boxed and have some time to fish with some of you all.

Tight lines!
Tom

Yup, it must be true, crabbed two consecutive days from the beach casting a snare. Great surf conditions. Between the two days I managed 15-16 dungies.

All effin short.    :smt013

Recipes / Drunken Crab
« on: November 11, 2010, 09:55:20 AM »
Since Dungie season is here, though I would share this one.

1 Dungeness Crab per person
4 large pieces of ginger per four crabs
1 Full head of garlic
1/2 Pound scallions
1/2 Cup olive oil
1 Teaspoon chili flakes
1/2 Bottle of white wine

Obtain one cooked, cracked and cleaned Dungeness Crab per person  or, do what I do and catch your own when the season opens on the Central California Coast in November. You can buy them already done from many supermarkets, etc.

Heat the oven to 500 degrees.

Peel and finely chop four large chunks of ginger per four crabs. Peel and chop a full head of garlic per four crabs. Chop a half-pound of scallions per four crabs.

Pour half a cup of olive oil into a frying pan and add a teaspoon of chili flakes. Get the oil hot and add the ginger. Just as the ginger begins to sizzle, add the garlic. When the garlic sizzles, add the scallions and cook until the garlic is browning. Remove from the heat immediately.

Put the crab in a big roasting pan and pour half a bottle of white wine over it (feel free to enjoy the other half as you cook). Then carefully pour the oil, ginger, garlic and onion mixture evenly over the crab. Put in the oven for ten minutes or until hot. Arrange the crab on a serving platter. Pour the sauce in the pan over the crab. If you think you have too much sauce, place the excess in a gravy boat in case people want more.

Serve with the rice noodles and a green salad.

Yields 4 servings.

I think we might be felons since we both have manufacture fish billies on the ol lathe.
There was a discussion on a firearm board I post on and it was stated making a billy club is a felony so really, a fish billy is the same dang thing.   :smt029

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Trolling lures for Baja!
« on: October 04, 2010, 04:35:48 PM »
Heading to La Paz Mexico soon (Baja peninsula) so we made a few more trolling plugs.

Here ya go, "Suerte",  the panga captain we have used the last three years always says every color works as long as it is black/purple.  Just shy of 9" long with 1oz of weight crammed in the cavity.  Shannon tied the feathers and hand painted the tops.
the wood is IPS (Winch's favorite) also known as Brazilian Ironwood.

felt good to turn again, it has been a while.

Anyone know if the deans or any anchovies have made PP harbor their home yet?  Considering heading out that way soon to launch, catch some bait and fish.

I am just thinking out loud right now, but do you all think there would be any interest if say I poured and made a few of those rock cod irons and did an auction on this site with proceeds going to the Mooch fund?
