NADA.  Ocean was gorgeous and the fish were out there, but they were WAY out there and at 6 miles out we were only half way  :smt010  Had a few hits, but in the end nothing  :smt010 :smt010

SCWA you shoulda let us know when you're here, we'll drop our busy schedule to fish. Where did you go out of? I was out in Trinidad today on a tour but there were alot of yakkers on the water. It was an extemely flat day.

I have never paddled that long before! It wasn't just the distance, we also fought the current. We did have gorgeous weather and the water was FLAT! I couldn't believe that 6 miles out the depth was only 160 feet! I could almost stand up in that depth.

CHEERS!

Great trip, Sean.  We'll have to give it another go when the fish come in shallower than 300'!  That was some very flat ocean today - just beautiful out there.  We had 5-10 minutes of what I think was a humpback or two blowing a couple hundred yards away.  A seal befriended me (as I cursed at it) and followed like 4' behind me for a while.  We went out into fog for miles/hours, not knowing that a north to south drift was stifling our progress.  We all had touches, but from reports most any fish that have been caught inside of 240' have been silvers.  Doing 11 miles on the open ocean - VERY open, no rocks, no peninsulas sticking out - is fun.  Especially when you're hanging with NCKA.  Thanks, Sean and Dan.  Come back any time.

Pics:

Dan and I celebrated a successful return to land with a high 10.

Sean was looking good surfing in...

...then he was down!  but he managed to keep the boat upright.

Fun trip though.  Just got off my work boat at 100 am...time for bed!

I've done plenty of surfing with my X-factor, once she starts to pitch over theres not much you can do about it. You might have lost the cell but it looks like it was a bold move to hop off and save your rods.

Good action shots Abking!

Thanks for the report guys. You saved me a trip as I was thinking of giving it a go. Did you notice any bait inside the bay, anywhere?
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

sorry to hear it was bust.  N. Coast was pretty epic except for the wind.

Way to give it a go gents. That's a long paddle. Glad the elements cooperated with the exception of the current.

We did run across a couple of large bait balls, but no love!

Good hard try guys!

Abking, if you didn't have photo proof, it would have been hard to believe Sean dumped the landing on his battleship.  I was beginning to think he was super-human.  I've never seen or heard of him ever scrubbing before.   :smt003

Hey brother Sean... our AOTY pursuit is really starting to get costly in time, gas money, WAF, and humility.... isn't it?  :smt002

I know firsthand.  I fried at least one phone already.  :smt081  :smt089

11 Miles!  Wow - that is quite a distance.  I've been hearing the fish are out far now - I hope soon they'll come within the lazy man's reach!  Thanks for the report!
