This is a good deal on the Revo Toro 50 @ Cabelas. I think Abu is making some changes to the Toro next year because the Toro has been listed on sale at a couple different places lately...I got one for 139 @ Turners Outdoorsman a month ago. So if you want to get one, keep your eyes open for upcoming deals.

I love the feel and action of the toros. They suck though for holding up for kayak fishing. My inshore and one of the 60's crapped out after only 1 year. Allbearings rusted. These reels were never dunked. I know our kayak reels take way more abuse that a boat would do but hey, after one year I had to put over 100 dollars in parts + labor back into these reels. They claim that the body is salt resistant and it is . Its PLASTIC. DUH! Mikes reel repair put in new ceramic bearings and carbon washers. Even the grease from the CHINESE factory was garbage.

I had the same experience as Craig. Both my 61s were trashed after 1 year and I had to put in $160 to rebuild them.  Love the way they performed, but didn't hold up well.  We'll see now with the new bearings, washers, and grease.

I have a Revo S that I'm about to toss after less than a year of service. Admittedly, this was my first reel apart from the wally catfishing gear and I didn't take good care of it (rinsed after every use).

I'm getting a new Toro 61 from Abu for a discounted price, because it would have cost more to fix the one sent in. I love that reel but this post is making me think twice about keeping it. Tekota 600 LC.. hmmm.

Three years going strong on my Revo inshore, and 2 years on my Torro, with just rinsing.  Although, I admit I haven't caught many fish on either of them to wear them out.  :smt044  I got a RevoS on eBay, was a POS...

Good to know. I like my lefty too much and will see how long this one lasts. I'll try using a neoprene cover when transporting to and from the fishing grounds.

Mike @ Mikes reels who repaired the toros told me( and he has had few apart) to buy a curado 300 if I wanted a low profile reel that will hold up to salt/kayakfishing

I have a revo inshore that crapped out but Alan Tani has back in top shape and going strong.  My ancient Penn 10 reels are still rockin and bullet proof.  If the gear ratio were higher, I would not even think of using anything else.  They survived a teen age boy's learning curve and that says a lot.
