Has anyone heard about the fishing licenses changing to A large printout next year? I saw something on SB that says it will be some sort of printout that will be alot larger than the ones we carry today. :smt009

If it's the same as the new system for hunting licenses/tags then yes.  My buddy bought his tag late in the season and it's about 4 inches wide, and about two feet long...kinda looks like my average Costco receipt.

It is true.  They are going to a computer generated license system.  Most of the other states already use this system, funny how California seems to lag behind the times in the hunting and fishing arena.

That's 'cause California f***ing sucks when it comes to almost anything fishing/hunting related.

In the Southeastern deserts they are trying to ban hunting because some research backed by the audobon society suggests that the rare desert tortoise is declining in numbers, and a big part of this decline is hunting. Yep, the gunshots supposedly frighten the shy tortoises and they get so exhausted "running" away from the gunshots that they just up and die. True story.

The report never mentioned that the area under a single raven's nest contained 60 baby tortoise shells...

Well, as long as they stick to the "no display requirement" and it fits into a ziploc I guess it won't be a big deal.

To make something more of a PITA than it was in the past seems to be the only thing I can count on my county-state-country government to do these days.

I paid 490 bucks for a lifetime of fishing in CA. Pays for itself after like 12 years. That means I'll be fishing for FREE for the rest of my life beginning at age 33!?
Seems like a good deal to me.

I bought a salmon report card for the Klamath and Smith.  The document, a computer printout, was just under 4' long...   :smt009

When that warden up at the mouth of the Smith checked me in late October he unraveled that thing like one of Aesop's scrolls.  We both laughed, and he says, "do you abalone dive?"  I answer yes, and he says, "wait until you see next years abalone paperwork..."   :smt010

I agree with Sean - as long as we don't have to wear it displayed it's not that bad.
