Oops!
Someone in our warehouse bumped into the last T-15 we had.
If you would like to repair this boat I would be willing to sell it for $599ish.
Below I have attached a few pic's of the damage
Most can be fixed with a heat gun but the small slice in the R. side would have to be welded.
Call me and we could negotiate the price

Anybody know someone who has done / can do this type of repair in the Fresno or San Jose areas? I sent the following info to a local San Jose plastics company and they came back with a shockingly high (IMO) quote... Scroll down below to see...

I recently took up the sport of kayak fishing and have been preparing to purchase my first sit-on-top kayak. I found the boat, only one problem... It was slightly damaged in the retailers warehouse. Pictures of the boat and associated damage can be seen at the following web address: http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,17512.0.html

Could you please provide me an estimate to straighten the wrinkles and perform a likely required small weld?

From the manufacturer's website, I found this info regarding materials and repairs:

http://www.oceankayak.com/product_support/faqs.html#17

Q - What type of polyethylene is an Ocean Kayak made of?
A - It is a linear medium-density polyethylene that is an excellent stiff, very tough material. Unlike the cross link polyethylene used by many other manufacturers, the linear polyethylene is weldable for modifications or the unlikely event of repairs.

Q - How do I repair my boat?
A - Ocean Kayaks are very durable, however on occasion they may need some minor repairs. The linear polyethylene used in our kayaks is repairable. You may wish to contact an Ocean Kayak dealer close to you to have repairs performed by their staff. We do offer free weld rod and a repair manual if you choose to perform repairs yourself. We can ship hatch cut outs (small portions of the kayak) for use in welds and welding practice. A heat gun with reduction nozzle is needed. Thanks, I look forward to hearing back from you !!!

And now for E&F Plastics estimate (yikes! thinking this is a candidate for DIMself)...

Jeff, from what I can see here, removing the wrinkles as well as we can and welding the rip will cost $500.00.

If they want $500 I will repair it for you for only $450 :smt044
Seriously though the tear could be welded for a lot less and the dents can be pushed out with a little heat.
That quote is outrageous

Yeah, I'm guessing that was their way of saying "we're not interested in the job". Eric, I plan to drive out on Saturday to take a look at the boat, but will give aquan a ring.

Outback Adventures in SJ should be able to weld that up also. I think they quoted me like 60 bucks an hour/1 hr min or something like that for the welding.
