Day started out auspiciously.  Got to small lake launch ramp and walked out onto boat launch, starting casting at the risers.  Saw many many surface fish.  Across the way three old timers were fishing worms under long ass bobbers.  Right when I got there I saw one of em bang a big trout.  Thought COOL.  Well it wasn't.  I didn't bring any bait, throwing roostertails, kastmasters, and humdingers, but nothing stuck.

Came back to my car only to see somebody had broken my rear driver side window, took my swim bag and Harmon Kardon GPS, and roll of quarters (parking change).

Never even heard the glass break or the alarm go off.  Of course, every Audi dealer's service dept. is closed on Sundays...Sooooooo

I hate Lake Merced.

Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

I did see lots of runners and foot traffic, like youre saying.  And the O-Club is right there with the Harding Park course and all.  Whoever that was had a lot of balls to do that.  It was very early morning, but still...

I think it takes at least two people to do something like this, one lookout and one "smasher".  Suspect that they were interrupted in the act b/c they didn't take everything they could've taken within easy grasp.  I really don't care that much about the GPS, cash, but the thing that burns me is the loss of my swimming gear bag.  That bag has been everywhere with me, from my UCLA days (including some of those sunscreens :smt005).  Can just imagine some homeless bum or wayward youth running around with my swimmers chamois and using my speedo as underwear.   :smt013  doggone shame.

Soooooo... everyone be really diligent out there, especially with the upcoming holiday season!!  I got lazy/ careless and the bastards caught me slipping.  This could really happen anywhere.  Smash and grabs even occur at Santana Row...

DO NOT LEAVE A G/D THING IN PLAIN SIGHT.  ALWAYS LOCK IN TRUNK OR JUST LEAVE IT AT HOME.

Between kayaking, mountain biking, and hiking I've had my windows smashed 2 times. I often go on weekdays when the parking lots are empty and i guess that makes my car an easy target. I started leaving anything worth anything at home! I started leaving my window cracked and doors unlocked. Sounds crazy, but I'd rather have some one open my door and look inside then smash a window out. Replacing the window is often more expensive and more headache than what could be stolen! I would love to catch someone in my car though!  :smt011

I open the glove box and pull my pockets inside out, leaving them in plain view, so the pucks can see that I'm thinkin about them first.
I'll hide my wallet&$$ in a good spot that takes time to find and looks ackward accessing it.

if they don't see something good, they won't bother.
...so far so good(andKNOCKINGonWOOD) :smt012
