Glad you made through OK and that no one else got hurt.  Thanks for posting this, it's a reminder how easily things can go wrong.

Jeez, either you were incredibly lucky.......or incredibly unlucky, depending on how you look at it.  Glad you're OK.  Close call.

Glad to hear you are okay.  That could have been a lot worse.  I have a guy in my National Guard unit who did a stint as a private security contractor overseas.  He was at a range prior to going on a convoy.  He is shooting and has a round misfire.  He holsters his piece he thought (he had ejected the round in question), and the gun goes off shootin him mid thigh.  the cause:  The company he worked for was using cheap imported ammo, the type with a lacquer coating on them.  Apparantly there can be a delay from the time the hammer hits the round and the time the round goes off.  Sounded dumb to me till I looked up some stuff and it is possible.

You really did have some luck on your side, it's amazing how fast things can go from fun to life just passed you by, can happen in a kayak at sea or in the swamp with a gun!
 that being said let's float some yaks in the swamp and shoot some guns.  The season Is about over, ya got to get back on that horse!

Yep, very lucky. Been shot three times before. Twice in combat, once dove hunting at Spenceville. This, scared me the most. My gun is good to go. Bought a new hammer assembly. The hammer got mushroomed, and wouldnt fire. Bought a Winchester SX3, auto. It happens, when ammo is questioned. When in doubt, throw it out. Learn from my mistake, I knew better, in hind sight.

Glad you're okay. I had a misfire eons ago and my roommate told me not to shoot after I reloaded. I immediately cleared my gun, took off the barrel and lo and behold, wad and shot in the barrel. Dude saved me from some permanent damage.

I've almost been shot too on the same day as my misfire. About 1/2 hour later walking through a field ,with short grass growing in it,  towards two hunters a pheasant came up between us. I saw the guy raise his gun so I dove out of the way of the shot. I could hear it flying by as I was hitting the ground. I fired a warning shot in the air, reloaded and aimed at him telling him to drop his weapon. I then put mine on save and lectured him not to shoot when he sees a bright orange vest behind his target. Scared my roommate more than me cuz he was off to the side witnessing the event as I was being shot. He thought I died. The shot pattern missed me by a couple of inches.
