Seaguar’s Extreme Kayak Fishing Challenge Airs on NBC Sports

Kayak fishing pioneer Jim Sammons is landing monster fish from his kayak once again, this time on NBC Sports!  Seaguar’s Extreme Kayak Fishing Challenge is now airing Fridays at 1:00 pm Eastern, putting Jim and his Ocean Kayak in 76 Million TV Households across USA.

Season 1 of Seaguar’s Extreme Kayak Fishing Challenge takes viewers marlin fishing in Baja, Mexico, whitewater kayak fishing in Canada's remote wilderness, and challenging massive tuna on Panama's legendary Hannibal Banks.

"Having our show broadcast on NBC Sports is a major step for the sport of kayak fishing," says Jim Sammons, Star of the show. "It's recognition from the fishing industry that kayak fishing is more than a passing trend—that the benefits of kayak fishing are real, and participation will continue to grow."

It's no surprise that the fishing industry is embracing the sport of kayak fishing. With the current state of both the economy and the environment, anglers are looking for cheaper and less damaging means of enjoying their passion. Not only does kayak fishing address these problems, but anglers are quickly realizing that kayaks provide an amazing fishing experience and offer some enormous advantages.
A big thank you goes out to our show partners!

Seaguar: Amazing fluorocarbon, and the new Kanzen braid and Senshi mono quickly became a favorite
Ocean Kayak: A leading manufacturer of fishing kayaks, and Jim's kayak of choice for over a decade
ExOfficio:  Great looking, intelligently engineered clothing, now celebrating 25 years of innovation
Maui Jim:  Proving that with quality eyewear, you really do ‘see a difference’
Standard Horizon:  Delivering the finest VHF radios on the market for 50 years
Mustad:  The world’s best hooks... and in 2012 you can win a million dollars for using them!
Scotty:   Leading manufacturer of kayak fishing accessories (aka, 'Lego' for your kayak)
Okuma:  Anglers are tough on gear and Jim proves that Okuma’s high performance tackle is more than up for the challenge

About The Heliconia Press: Since World Champion kayaker Ken Whiting founded the company in 1998, The Heliconia Press has been a leader in outdoors media production. For more information about Heliconia's various TV and WebTV series, visit www.helipress.com

Congratulations Jim, Now we can see ya more often.
See Ya Soon,
Eric / Yakhopper

I just watched an episode on Versus/NBC Sports. It was pretty cool. But I was surprised they didn't wear PFDs while fishing some gnarly seas near Panama. Especially the part when they fished the boilers right up against the rocks!

Next will be reality Kayak fishing shows on the discovery channel.  G-whiz pimping his attack yak for the military channel.  Kayak gear on QVC,  Bear Gryllis is wrestling a GWS off Bean Hollow...and wins.  The A-Hulls will get into a war with some spear fishing war with some club from SoCal.  Fish Hunter will get tatooed shark teeth imprints on "Real NorCal Tatoos."  Mooch will be on Opra, Danglin will do an intrest show for the Colbert Report.  Then as quickly as it started Kayak reality TV will be replaced by Extreme Knitting.

I like watching his shows but the Panama episode is a reply from a few years ago.  One thing I noticed is its heavy commercialized, I feel getting bombarded by too many ads.

I am comparing other shows like George Povoromo and Mark Davis that don't push their sponsors to your face constantly.

He used to be sponsored by Shimano now its Okuma.  He was using Shimano gear during his trip.

It was listed as "Fishing" on my Xfinity directory.  Friday's around 10:00 am I think.  I don't remember what channel number, but shouldn't be too hard to find.

I'm actually leaving in two weeks to film the first episode of "Celebrity Kayak Fishing" at an isolated resort in Brazil with Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Aniston, Angela Bassett and Lucy Lu.

Maybe I'll post-up a report.
