I tried to talk to the guys at Adventure Sports at the last ISE show.  They didn't seem interested.  Granted, there were a lot of people there, but I was asking "ready to buy" type questions.

I ended up renting/demo'ing from CCK in Rancho and ultimately buying from them.  I recommend renting different models before you buy.  My wife and I tried a Revo, Outback, and Sport over several weekends (locally and in Tahoe=semi-rough water & wind).  I was pretty much planning on buying an Outback until I tried it.  I really liked the Revo better since it felt more like a kayak and less like a boat to me.

Good for you man! I'm stoked to hear someone taking the time to demo a bunch of yaks and picking the best one for them. CCK are good peeps and I'm glad they earned your business.  :groupwave

+1 Peddle means to sell something. Its a frequent mistake for pedals which Hobies have.

sorry folks i ment to say a peddle kayak not paddle..

Actually, I think you meant to say pedal kayak.

dilbeck. a few years ago my wife and i went to the ise and tryed to haggle with a few of the kayak dealers and they would not budge.so i told them that they were going to have there kayaks for a long time. going again this saturday and maybe just maybe i might come home with a new or used kayak. we will see.

Sorry to hear that they weren't willing to negotiate.

Not sure if It's worth stating, but when I got my deal, back in 2009, I ended up with an unused (I don't call it brand new because it was a year old) 2008 Outback.  I had originally wanted a brand new boat but found out that they no longer made boats in the safety orange color and boy was I bummed.  Long story short, I ended up with an unused 2008 orange Outback because I decided that I could live without the upgrades of the 2009.

A lot of times companies are much more willing to negotiate with their old stock because their looking to unload in order to carry more of the newer product.  If your flexible and persistent, it could pay off.

when I bought my new Pro Angler in summer of 09 from the Hobie dealer in Livermore I managed to get a 10 percent discount.  You might find the Outback, Revo, and others a bit cramped for your size.  I loaned my OB (before I sold it) to a buddy who is around 6' and 230, he said he felt a bit cramped in it and kept trying to talk me out of trying my PA which is much roomier and has a more comfortable seat.  BTW, I am 6'3" and 210 and there is more than enough room in the PA to stretch out.  the PA is rated for 600 lbs. if I remember correctly.
