Thanks for the props everyone!  Typing up this report last night had me re-living it all over again.  So awesome.

Damn Chris, THAT was fun. Your reports are beyond and above most. The pics are great. We used to go up the Salmon right there at Soames Bar. During the week you would have to wait for a logging truck to follow up or down so you didnt meet one on that little section I called the death zone. hehe. Right before the cliff section theres a huge hole down in the river  canyon. Its a bicth to get down to but its huge. You are living the great life right now man. Cheers!
Dude Craig, I cannot imagine what I would do if I ran into a logging truck on the Salmon River Road.  Put it in reverse?  On those sharp, twisty, one-lane curves?  Ugh, I don't even wanna think about it!

Awesome report, totally jealous! Fall steelheading is my favorite fishing. What a season for jacks on the K and they're still in there. A few weeks ago on the Upper K they were everywhere and ridiculously grabby (foul hooked only a few), fun on 4 and 5wts. Looks like you got some excellent weather for November as well. Man, I wish I was up there.

I still gotta send you some flies, just haven't had much time at the vise. My reserves are all gone, tying only what I need for that day. Once it starts raining I'll get some time in and send you some.
I hear ya golfish, the jacks were off the hook this year!  I've never seen so many.  And yeah, totally on the chew.  I'd expect it on roe and spinners, but we were also getting them on nymphs.  What drives a beat-up, burnt out jack to eat a size 6 beadhead nymph is beyond me.  But I won't complain.  Like you said, they're a blast on the long rod!  The river stuff up here at Almanor is all but done.  But I have plans for the long rod this spring on the lake.  Thinkin pond smelt streamers fished in the flats for browns  :smt007.

Damn! You jut did the trip I had in mind before termites put the kabosh on my fall plans... :smt013 Those are my old stomping grounds. Especially the Orleans area and Del loma. Great trip Chris. Terrific photos of coure. Why so many jacks this year you ask? The answer my friend. They can make it through the nets... :smt012 Same as the half pounder steelies. There were TONS of adults rolling in the lower river this year. It's a crime how much that privalige is abused..... :smt011

Your journeys are impressive, and to share it with all is just sincerely appreciated brother! Stoked to read that ya showed some fisherman how to fish with the spinning gear, simply "barbaric" lol

Thanks fellas!  Totally gonna be rocking the Barbarian label this winter and spring.  But I'll likely mix it up with the Gentleman's form of fishing.  I'm thinkin white streamers fished on the flats for Almanor browns, and glo-bugs for pre-spawn rainbows.  If it fails, I'll go back to my cave for my spinning gear  :smt003.

Just another vote for a great report.  I haven't fished for steelies in a few years.  This will get me dusting off that gear.
