I'll be out with a couple of newbies this Saturday. Were going to meet and launch out of the Coast Guard Pier around 6am. See ya out there if you come out.

Good luck Alex and Phong. Wish I could join ya both but tied up for both Sat and Sun.
However, I may make it this Monday.
Phong, you'll be in good hands with Alien so try to hook up with him if at all possible. He's local and knows the fishing grounds.

I had plan to be out off of Cannery row around 7. Never fished for WSB before, not sure I have the right gear even, but I'd be willing to give it a shot.

Hey Alex, your profile pic shows a WSB caught on 10/1/09. Maybe it's time for a bigger 10/1/11 fish?

I'm not familiar to the area but where exactly is the coast guard pier? Also what VHF channel do you normally use?

Phong,

Check this site for the Coast Guard pier:
http://wikimapia.org/6958/Coast-Guard-Wharf-Monterey-Breakwater

or google map: coast guard pier, monterey, ca

Brief description: right after you exit the tunnel after the fisherman's wharf, bear right, then take the first right into the Coast Guard Pier.

After tunnel, bear right into "Foam" St, then take the first right into the Coast Guard Pier.

Lighthouse Ave
Into the Tunnel
Foam St
1st Right into the Coast Guard Pier

$10 parking for whole day
or $1.50 per hour.

Still plan on being there early tomorrow. I usually try and park under the lights neareast the bathroom. If you see me come and say hi :smt006 Danny, we have to hook up some day! It's been a long time since we fished the bay. I might be able to go with you on Monday but have to wait and see. I better start getting my gear together!

Alien, I assume with newbies, you'll be sticking to rockfish as your target. Just curious as I recently received the boss' orders that we are having halibut for dinner tomorrow night. Are you planning on being in or near productive halibut grounds? I have yet to pull one out of Monterey, but would prefer some company rather than a solo trip to Capitola or SC.

Hi gelbyak, the two newbies had to bail out . so its just Bear and I. You are more than welcome to float with us if you like. We  are leaving S.J. at 4am to the Coast Guard Pier and hope to be ready to launch at day break. Are target it is WSB, Sand Dabs, while drifting for the Gh0st,  rock cod , and halibut...hope to see ya there.

Would like to target a 2nd one on Monday. I'll be so glad to hook up with you so please do pave the way.

See ya.

Thanks, Alex. WSB aren't on the menu for me, so I'll be fishing shallower waters. Best of luck to you guys!

Some boats were back in the sandcity area today, looked about 120-140fow north of the beach hotel. But the wind was ferocious @ 2, lots of sheep in the pasture. So dont get caught waay out there when the wind cranks up tomoro. Good luck Alex!
