Raptor Roll Challenge
« on: May 31, 2011, 02:18:08 pm »
OK,      Here goes.       I've been thinking about this for a while now.

June 25th,   After  the big race around the cans on June 25th...  MBK,      After my  " ass whoopin "  :smt044         I'll have a Raptor rigged up for anyone who thinks they can capsize this kayak  rodeo cowboy style.     That's right,  you'll have 8 seconds to flip the Raptor over.    Only rule is your butt must remain in the saddle.

Please keep in mind   " It's all in the name of Fun ".        Any takers ?

Aw. I was hoping for kayak kettle bell relay toss around the cans. 25 pounds would do it.

Gawd,,,  another fishing derby ? :smt009      There's not enough days in the year to fit them all in.       ARW,   ORC,  Albion,  Two more  of Yakhoppers great events. still to come after this ARW.
Truth be told, I'd love too.  I'm a minnow in a BIG pond.  Need to get my head above water first.  Next year hopefully.

I just want to paddle it around & see how she performs. I'm not interested in trying to flip it over because stability is not that important to me. It's like number 7 or 8 on my list of important kayak features, for me. So I'd be stoked if you could bring one to the event, Baitman.

I'll bring mine too if it's not raining hard that day.  You guys are welcome to try-out after the derby.

The design has some interesting features and is clearly the result of thinking outside the box.

My criteria are:
Must do well: low wind profile (I fly fish a lot and blowing around while stripping in flies is a PITA), speed for long paddling days, handles like a sea kayak not a tub, floats no matter what—no Cleopatra's Needle for me, enough storage for safety equip, tackle, and fish.

I'd like to try one out—I am trying to get down to two boats: one for inland waters and one for the ocean—two different sets of challenges and my current boats are compromises that I fish in because I love fishing but not them.

How's my favorite little rodent? Hey Daniel, how are you and your women folk? The design of this yak lends it self to a very simple but very effective anchor set up ( A lot more later.)  That will stop one of if not the most frustrating experiences that can happen  to any...kayak angler, and that's getting blown around or into who knows what, while their changing lures or flies. The Raptor will meet your criteria and then some.
That said, I'm looking forward to this event .
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

Headwaters in Lodi sells Raptors so i guess i can demo from them. I'd keep my T-15 for the ocean and use the Raptor for inland maybe.

I don't think Dan has one in stock right now.     If you're at the ARW next weekend we'll have some there you can try out.
