Just checked my renters insurance they cover water craft up to 1000 dollars with a 500 dollar deductible so im screwed again, SO MY GOAL IS TO FIND THESE WORTHLESS THUGS AND GET MY PROPERTY BACK.
Im going to scower my apt complex because its funny they stole the yak and paddle but left the seat and they did not take the straps with them so they must have carried to a truck or to a house but im on the case I get back on this evening and let everyone know my progress
Where did he go george

i have a friend named jim in redwood city who lives by kaiser hospital. he once got his motorcycle stolen early in the am and he followed the skidmarks to the other side of the complex where it was sitting under a tap. turns out two kids from a dysfuntional family dragged it with a skateboard under the front wheel and took it home. what a bunch of idiots. my friend insisted that the cop take the kids to jail and the parents didnt think it was a big deal their kids did that. i wanted to punch the two ghetto parents in the mouth for calling it "nuttin big". i was fuming when they said that right in front of us and the police. but the police had a point/ he said "well, you look at the parents and then you see what the kids did, no surprise they are starting young, they lack good role models".

im not planning to go hide out in the hills or nothing but i dont even trust my own neighbors in the group of cottages my wife and i live in. i have three megans law offenders within a one block radius and im on the ground floor. the question is, why shouldn't i protect myself and what i have. anything less is leaving myself open to everyone else around me. i live in the ghetto though so i eye everyone with suspicion anyways. someday i'll move out when i win the lotto or when we have kids.

Good point, James.  If the bastards left the straps, your kayak is probably not very far unless they just threw it in the back of a pick-up truck and drove off.  I would ask your neighbors if they saw anything.  Something that big will show up sooner or later.

I'll be on the look out around here!  :smt013 :smt093 :fire

Not neccesarily.  If it isn't recovered there are lots of folks (including this weirdo from Ukiah that gets yaks at wholesale) who will make sure you don't have to change your name back to pontoon james.  Hang tight brother.

I'll keep my eyes on Cragslist. I almost lost a Prowler in Santa Cruz. I had a Bike cable thru the scupper holes and, locked down but they still tried! I'm
really sorry. Unless it's out out of sight and, nailed down it bound to get ripperoff. Allen T last year had a bunch of Reel parts delivered at his house that
were ripped off.

Will keep an eye out.

Of all things to steal... why would someone try to run away with such a large item?

Besides Sean's (scwafish) awsome generosity, Johnfchen sent me a PM suggesting a donation for Jame's lost kayak....I passed on the info to Bill (and several board members) and he will be creating a "donation button" by next week.

Thanks to Johnfchen for getting this started - you're a cool cat  :smt002

FYI: this $$ donation will be coordinated with Sean/scwafish

The people that did this are scum. Makes me made when things like this happen to good people.
I saw your post in the sniffer. There will be lots of eyes looking for your kayak.

I hope it's found soon and in good shape.

I feel for you James,

Nothing lower than a thief. I will look for the "Help Button" when Bill get it up. I will also pledge to donate a new cable lock to the cause. ( I have two different brands of locks to secure my Prowler with)  It has been said hang together or hang separately.   This group will hang with you.

You all bring tears to my eyes,
Now for the news I found out who stole it my neighbor unfortunately the cops will not  go into his apartment to retrieve it.
I found this out by going to the local kayak shops and informing them to call me if someone tried to sell them a new cobra, and guess what sunrise mountanering called me at 130 yesterday saying 2 young white thugs came in asking if they would buy a kayak of course they did not have the yak straped to the top of their black mustang but the clerk got the licence plate numberand I gave it to the police but the cops have done nothing yet. the clerk at sunrise told the thugs they would buy it but they needed to bring it in and as of yet I have heard nothing.
Another note the thug that stole it sometimes stays with his father in modesto so keep your eyes open there.
thanks to everyone for the help and I hope it wont come to donations but its a little hard to ask for help.

P.S. I aked the cop in charge what I should do he said"keep up the detective work" I thought that was his job

Gratefully
James
