I've been looking at CB Radios and wanted to know if anyone else on here uses them, and advice on what to purchase.

I know pretty much nothing about it, so could use some advice  :smt002  Since i'm moving up to the hills I wanted to get a CB for fun and emergency use.  Have another friend that wants to get one so we can communicate while 4wheeling or whatever.

With the limited time I've spent looking at radios, I believe I want something that's higher powered than a handheld, like NOAA alerts, but not a must, and I think SSB sounds like a good option to have.  What else should I be looking for?

Thanks guys!  :smt006

Al, I have one from back when my camping buds used them.  You are welcome to give it a try.  It's an old one from the glory days of CB, (we got ourselves a convoy), which supposedly have better power than the ones available at the time.

Ten four, good buddy, goochgoochgooch!!!

For under $100 you can get a radio from this place and they peak it to a higher wattage (Which is technically not legal) which improves your distance of calling out. My dad has dealt with them for over 20 years and their customer service is amazing. I have bought a few CBs from them as well

Totally unrelated, but every time I hear about CBs...I think of this sweet banjo song by Stewie Griffin lol!
I can't find an actual clip of the scene, but here's the song!
