in the diamond classic c and r derby we enter all slot fish in a lottery for prizes.  that way we do not have to measure precisely, all slot fish have the same chance to win.  we drive around in a pb, with a measuring pole painted red from 0-46", green 46-66", red 66"+.  anglers with fish call us on the radio, drive over; document the fish and enter the angler in the lottery.
furthermore, an angler earns a lottery ticket with every slot fish, multiple entries are possible, but unlikely, it IS sturgeon fishing.

CANCELLED    CANCELLED    CANCELLED    CANCELLED    CANCELLED

This event has been cancelled by park management. I have no clue why but was just told to cancel the derby. I apologize to anyone that this may inconvienience. I think that those that were going to come should still use the park as a gathering of fellow kayak fisherman and have it be a meet-n-greet with some fishing thrown in. Parking is only $5.00 and pretty easy launch area near the snack shack. Any questions go ahead and ask, hope I can answer them. Sorry again folks,

I would be up for it. We could move it to China Camp for easy launch but a muddy exit. :smt002

let's wait til the Halibuts come back......that way,at least we have a 50-50 chance of catching a fish, instead of just a .1%

Cause it's a sturgeon derby Adam. But a halibut derby at Paradise when things get hot would be groovy man. Now stop hummin' those seventies tunes and fish, dammit.

i've launched there for stripers, there's a little rocky area that you can pull out on S of the pier. I can't recall if we were negative tide or not
