Been looking for ways to eat healthier and got a suggestion from da boss. If you enjoy rice as much as I do, try this instead:

*Organic Quinoa whole grain  = http://www.edenfoods.com/articles/view.php?articles_id=57

*for recipes: www.edenfoods.com

I've tried it... pretty good and you can do a lot of things with it.  Tons of protein in it too as I recall.

Several years ago one of my roomates was a borderline vegan and turned me onto Quinoa. It's not bad, like little fish eyes... :smt003 Seriously its pretty good as a rice substitute, better for you too. Old farts like me have to start staving off environmental diseases...

Rice substitute?  If you were within arms reach I would beat you with lumpia!  :smt075 Your faithful dog cannot be replaced by a squirrel.  Your fishing rod cannot be replaced by a shovel handle.  Big Sur cannot be replaced by Crapitola.  Rice cannot be substituted with Quinoa. :smt003

Mooch, I found a tofu fish stick recipe to go with your rice substitute!  :smt005

Actually, I have nothing against quinoa, or even millet or amaranth or spelt for that matter! But you might also try just switching out white rice with brown rice sometimes. It definitely has a stronger flavor & is a little 'toothier' than white rice but it has more fiber. Helps with the back end of things...so to speak...

I used to know a guy called "Mooch", he made me a honorary HAC member for a day (that's like getting knighted in the NCKA-world)...where'd he go?

I guess he's eatin quinoa in front of a computer these days.

Seriously, my wife is all about the quinoa instead of rice. I've been forced to adapt & it's not bad.

Try red quinoa - even better, and easier to cook, I find.
Melt some coconut oil and feta cheese into it and add some tomato and avocado.
Don't get me wrong, I still eat brown rice but quinoa has more nutrients by far.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

"Whats Better Than Rice?"
