I hope everyone on the roster is fired up for our upcoming 3.5-day on the Islander. I've been watching the reports. Like any fishing, there've been some good, some poor. I'm hoping for great weather. Please keep in mind that if the reports or conditions at the Cortez look bad, we have the luxury of running to happier hunting grounds.

I have to write a big check to the folks at the Islander on Nov 1. Please have the balance of your $705 per person fare in by then. Most of the people on the list should send $505, the balance after the initial $200 deposit. EDIT: Inaccurate $720 price corrected. Thank-you Tote.

My mailing address is:

Paul Lebowitz
9630 Capricorn Way
San Diego, CA 92126

Also, I'm missing a deposit from one of the late additions. I've contacted him - that spot will be offered to the foliks on the wait list if I haven't received it by Saturday.

Here's a recent report from San Clemente Island, a place we are likely to spend one of our fishing days. He hooped up a bunch of shorts, but cashed in on a couple of yellows, yo-yo style. Stock up on the iron!

Everyone please welcome Brooke Hardy, the newest man on our little adventure. He was at the top of the wait list and grabbed the spot vacated by Johnny C.

Oh yeah, here are some recent reports from the Cortez, as reported in this week's WON, SoCal edition. Freedom, 193 yellowtail, 15-40 lbs, 26 anglers. Outrider, 8 yt to 27 lbs for 9 anglers. Amigo, 76 yt for 11 anglers on dropper loops and fly-lined sardines. The yellows are on the bank. We just have to hope for good weather. No tuna at the moment.

Here's the trip roster:

1. Don Angliln
2. Dan Prather
3. Brooke Hardy
4. Janice Gardner Loster
5. Pat Grant

I'm not sure how that works. Maybe someone who has taken a multi-day lobster diving trip can chime in.

Here's another report. This past Friday, the Freedom nailed around 80 big Cortez yellows for a light load. The fish came on yo-yo iron, both scrambled egg and blue / white, in 6x and Jr size.  :-D

I'm going to try to keep this thread stocked with fresh reports. I'll also use it for other trip info. Here's an example. Okuma is sponsoring our little jaunt with shirts, hats, and raffle prizes. Earlier I collected shirt sizes from some of the folks. The roster is below. If there isn't a shirt size by your name, please post up.

Here's the trip roster:

1. Don Angliln XL
2. Dan Prather
3. Brooke Hardy
4. Janice Gardner Loster L
5. Pat Grant M
6. Randy Goodchild XL
7. Etienne Constable XL
8. Steve Hum
9. Walker Hum
10. Josh Simonson XL
11. Scott Gee XL
12. Paul Willett XL
13. Michael Totaro XL
14. Becky Totaro L
15. Alan Hampton
16. Bradley Sherman
17. Harry Antipala
18. Shawn Grimm
19. Sean White XL
20. Paul Lebowitz XL

REMINDER: Certain safety gear is MANDATORY for this trip. New additions are posted in ALL CAPS. The list includes PFD, marine flares, a VHF, a bright white light, and A BOW LINE. GPS, compass, whistle encouraged. For fishing efficiency, consider a bait tube or powered live well. If anything on this list presents a problem, please contact either me or Sean White; we'll be happy to help line up loaner gear.

Is anyone else bringing SCUBA gear? If I am the only one I will just as well leave it at home.

a bright white light
Is this in addition to a waterproof headlamp? Are you talking about a light for the kayak, the kind on a little pole that is seen 360 degrees?

Shawn Grimm - L, but after all this paddling I might be a XXL.  Gonna be HUGE!  Lets stick with the L

I'm bringing freedive gear, just in case.  Don't have tanks & don't want to mess with all the rental stuff.

PAL, logistics question.  How should we bring all this stuff (yak accessories & dive gear) aboard?  Big rubbermaid tub work or would that bee too much clutter?
