Unbelievable destruction!  The storm surged so high, hows the boardwalk doing?  Crazy...  Thanks for the pics and videos, as I've been mostly cut off from all news sources while stuck at home.  Making trips to town to use internet and get some work done, but power may not get restored until Sunday.  Time to eat some fish from the freezer :smt005

Here in Redwood Estates, we've been super-lucky wrt power outages during this storm. The power has gone out about 5 or 6 times, but never more than a couple of hours. I'm hoping that PG&E has finally got their act together and this will become a trend, but I suspect it has more to do with dumb luck...

You were lucky. Two full days in Occidental area for me without PGE and more for others deeper in the trees. Battery backup did well but eventually came down to 34% capacity left before PGE came back on. Minimal solar panel charging given the time of year and the thick grey mist/rain. Summertime I could go for weeks without PGE but I can see that a solid week without PGE recharging batteries from the grid would make me start generator again.

Sucks losing capitola pier and not knowing when or if it will be repaired ..

With getting closer to retirement and having more time to fish, my plans were to launch my aluminum off the pier that i have not done in years.

Enjoying the fam

4 days, 3 hours on generator in North Boulder Creek.  Utility power restored yesterday evening.  Luckily, Comcast stayed up for us the whole time.  The Cell Tower up on Ben Lomond Mountain in Bonny Doon came back online yesterday and is now back offline, so no cell service again.  All in all, we are some of the lucky ones.  Plenty without power, phone and internet for 8+ days up here.

Power came back yesterday (was day 4) and stayed on through today thankfully.  Comcast is down, and no eta or anything at all.  I just ordered starlink, because I'm having to work from the local coffee shop, or the back of my van to keep working from home  :smt005

Our power went out at about 4:00am and it’s currently projected to be restored by noon tomorrow, but I’ll be surprised if it’s up by then. We’re protected from the south wind, yet a tree-sized branch (6” diameter and at least 15’ long) bounced off our deck and landed about 6’ from where I was sleeping. In the more exposed areas of Redwood Estates, falling branches/trees knocked down lots of power lines. Yesterday, my older son couldn’t get to work in Santa Cruz due to a mudslide on 17. Most annoying of all, we’ve sprung a little roof leak that I can’t seem to fix in those brief interludes when the weather could not be accurately described as “a tall cow peeing on a flat rock”…

Power was restored after 4 days, but comcast was down until sometime yesterday.  Around 2:00am power went out _again_ but thankfully the comcast is still up (for now)  That means I can work from home still with my generator, instead of having to bounce around SLV with my hot spot working from businesses in town or from my van on battery power.  :smt005   No end of rain in sight for 5 days.  Felton flooded pretty badly apparently, sad to hear from a friend that their propery was filled with 3ft of water yesterday.
