Big changes are coming for rockfish fishing regulations in 2023.  The latest information is available at the following link:
https://wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Ocean/Regulations/Groundfish-Summary

The new regulations refers to 50fathom RCA line frequently. Not able to find one available from the web, so I collected the GPS coordinates from federal regulations (50 CFR Part 660,Subpart C), and converted the data into KML format, and combined the data with MPA map.  Here is the shared google map link for the combined map:

https://tinyurl.com/MPAand50FMRCA

When saved/opened in Google Maps app, one should be able to see his current location, MPAs, and the 50fm RCA lines.

Ty for the map, that's a great resource.  It's making me a bit sad however...

Yeah, I had the same feeling when I first saw the new groundfish regulations...

So if I'm reading the regulations right, we can't fish between that line and the shore for rockfish?

That is correct, which means we will not be able to fish from Kayaks during those time frames in most areas.

Does anyone have any idea of why? Too much pressure close to shore?

I believe that's the intent, to give nearshore rockfish a break and let anglers target fish they weren't able to do so prior as a concession.  Just seems to leave kayakers out in the cold though.

Yeah. Stock assessments for copper and quillback RF are not good, so the idea is to reduce impacts on those two species.

Although they'll allow some retention of both coppers and quillbacks once the nearshore season opens back up, it's probably wise to just release them from now on til the stocks improve.

FishLegal app has the 50 fathom RCA line too. At least the pro version does.

Yes, but you need to pay $10 per year
