Have done that in an emergency, when I had a fish on and fouled up my line.  Double surgeons loop and cut the loop off, and back in business.  Of course, I respooled when I got home, but landed that fish!

Not as in a loop to loop connection but by tying two lines together w an overhand, making the dropper with that knot in the loop portion, then cutting the loop. Here is my crude diagram.

OK I do do shrimp flies by making a large dropper loop, and cutting one side, to then tie on a fly to the end of that tag, but still connect my weight at the bottom.

Love da crudigram!  Does it matter which line loop root to cut?  Could one make the side that is not cut a little more secure? :smt006

Update: tried this at the desk and its not laying down correctly. The braid will bunch up and so it doesn't look very neat like a normal dropper knot looks. I think uni-uni or albright on the water. or double surgeons loop in a pinch lol.

Honestly I think the Alberto knot is by far the easiest to tie OTW and its very strong. I have caught striper up to 25lbs on the knot without problem, and backlashed my reel with a 10oz lure and the knot was totally fine. If you're going to tie a knot at home then the FG is probably the way to go.

I also use the alberto knot.  I think it is the easiest to tie as well.  All good info here. Thanks.
