What type of shark is this?

Caught this two Sundays ago in SC by the mile bouy on a dead smelt. Does anyone know what shark species this was?
Really thought it was a sea lion at first the way it tug and took about 10 runs before it finally came up.
Was safely released after cutting off the treble.

Can't really tell but my guess is blue shark.  though it is a lighter color than  would expect.

I agree it's a soupfin bc of the extra tip at the end of the tail.

Always cool to catch something new I've never seen.

You’re probably right, but how to tell a soupfin from a smoothhound? I caught one (or the other) in that same area a couple years ago and thought it was a smoothhound. If I actually catch a soupfin, I might keep it, so would like to know how to distinguish them.
