Careful y'all, I got a great deal on some ambush traps so that means they are going to get outlawed

I am so confused. You got a great deal on ambush and your conclusions they will get outlawed? How did you come up with that conclusion?

It's just a joke. Nothing to read into.

Exactly. Its like they knew something we didn't and tried to drop inventory.

I think someone at SW panicked.  It’s the whole reason I dug into it because I thought promar was ok then I saw the fire sale and thought waitamintue..

I’m a little bummed about the rings with wire mesh bottoms though.  They don’t hurt a damn thing and the weight difference, if there even is one, isn’t anything at all.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the nonmetallic mesh weighed more, especially wet.

Sometimes those regulations come out for strange reasons, not sure what the practical impact and reasoning is.

If the spirit of the regulation is to reduce entanglement drag, then I bet the metallic mesh is more hydrodynamic than the synthetic, resulting in even less drag.  What do we know, though, right?   :smt044

so it looks like Rec WILL open on 11/5, but hoops only, right?

though the FnG site still says 'may' open on 11/5.  The recommendations were only to delay commercial and require 2 hour hoops vs. overnight traps.

Can anyone confirm I am reading this right?

Based on the Hoop net regs, north of Point Arguello, Santa Barbara County, we do not have specific size and marker buoy regs.
the 5x11 + red marker is for Traps not hoops right?

Basing this off the language in https://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=195187&inline

Lets hope the enforcement officer also has that interpretation.

we have settled that the ambush nets are hoop nets not traps, so thats a big step forward.
