The forecast is looking pretty good for tomorrow.

At 3 nm out, the NWS has "Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming W 13 to 18 kt in the morning. Patchy fog before 10am. Mixed swell...W 3 ft at 13 seconds and SSW 2 ft at 14 seconds. Wind waves around 2 ft." And, the predictions are for a bit wind the farther you go from the SC side. Most of the windy.com forecasts looks to be even a bit milder.

It looks to me like it could be pretty slow sailing before about 11:00am-noon, though. So might be just about all pedaling until then...

So, X-man, are you still planning to launch by 5:00am? If so, I'll be there (and, hopefully, ready to launch) with a spare VHF radio. Even if you get your radio today, I'll insist that you take my spare along with you.

Hi Man, yes, I will be SC harbor at 05:00am, my TI has been loaded on the top of my car, plan launch at 06:00am, maybe a bit earlier, like 04:30am arrive there, no wind tomorrow morning, will be very slow travel only use human body power, need to launch a bit earlier to earn time

Yes, I just received the new radio HX890, don’t know how to use, no time to study the manual, when we meet in the harbor, can you teach me how to use? Thanks!

Yes, no wind, will be a tough day, but I am ok for it :). See you tomorrow morning! Cheer!

The basic functions of that radio are super-simple, and the spare that I'll give you is the same brand, so only a couple of things to remember.

Saw Mr X off at the harbor but lost visual as he launched a few minutes before me. Instead of trying to chase him down, I’m heading up the coast. We did make contact on the radio so he’s got that working. It should be a good day for the crossing.

Mr X launched at about 5:30 and at least where I’m at, there’s been essentially no wind in the past 3.5 hours. And the little there has been was from the SSE. If conditions are similar for him, it woulda been all pedaling so far, which would be tough on his heavy TI. Hope he gets good sailing conditions soon…

Just got text from Mr X. He’s gone 9 miles.

Westerly breeze just starting to pick up here in SC, so looks like he will be able to make good time for next several hours.
