Joel asked me to post as he doesn't have access to a PC right now.

Joel and two others trolled in 60-80' of water for 3 shakers.  Lots of bait.
I'm sure details will follow as others get back online.

thanks for the post Kevin.

I launched with Jason at 5:30AM. We trolled towards the North Point - saw plenty of bait in 35 to 45 ft of water. We then trooched once we saw the bait boiling on the surface - this happened for about half an hour. Jason had no problem making bait with his sabiki rod. We did not get any hits so we trolled to the Pedro point. Again, we marked balls of baitfish (and Jason confirmed it by dropping his sabiki and making more bait)

Jeff W. then shows up and trolls past Pedro Point. He comes back after an hour and reports two shakers (one was about 19 inches) trolling the apex in 80 ft. of water. He went back out there and Jason trolled an apex around 60 ft. and caught a 19 incher throw back. HIS FIRST SALMON ON THE YAK - congrats Jason!!!  :smt023 I decided to troll shallow - 20 to 35 ft of water - no love there either.  :smt011

Jason and I got off the water by 11AM - Jeff was still out there! This guy can paddle!!!! I bet this guy can paddle to the Farallons with no problems at all  :smt003

I feel cursed:
I fished with Stuart at Moss - he gets a salmon
I fished with Pat at Moss - she gets a salmon
I fished with Jason and Jeff - they both catch....

I'm 0 for 3  :smt013

In other news, I got see a baby mola mola - took some photos - will post later.

You're halfway to my score last year!

I talked to SteveS today.  He's been carefully monitoring the reports from Coastside and other sources.  There appears to be schools of larger salmon (17 to 25+ pounds lbs) off HMB which are gradually moving north towards Pedro Point.  If last year is an indication of a pattern, the big boys could arrive around Linda Mar and Pacifica in good numbers any day now.  I'm crossing my fingers!

Its true--i keep seeing the reported numbers slowly coming closer to shore, and farther north...  there's even been these little pulses of fish coming into close (ChuckE told me of RustyHook report of 20+ salmon off the pier).
I'm dying here!  HMB is more than WFO-- but its a bit too far offshore

Joel, with stats like that EVERYONE will want to fish with you.... :smt007
My Tuesday was dry.  I spent two hours at first light watching and listening to the south bay fleet power by my closest launch point, Coral St, and continue to search and search.  Seeing nothing to encourage me, I headed back to the house.  Apparently, (Coastside) at least one boat eventually hooked up with 20#+ fish about 4 miles out.  Down here, they don't seem to be getting closer.

Joel forgot to mention two things.  One I lost by sabiki rod and rig because I forgot to tether it on to yak :smt010 Oh, he aslo didn't mention that I lost my net on the landing as well. Didn't tether either.  I guess it's growing pains.

Joel, after looking at your scores I think it is a safe bet that if anyone wants to catch a salmon they should fish with you. See you guys on Friday.

but things are starting to look interesting don't you think

Yip - checking back to the reports from last year - the Month on July was when the Salmon was wide open at Linda Mar.  :smt026 Hopefully - they will be bigger than the average size of 8 - 12 pounders from last year.
