Looks good Scott, I am glad your paving the way on pimping out the Trident if and when I decided to buy one it will make it easier to pimp mine, keep up the good work.

Nice work.
I am currently rigging out my Trident and will post some pictures soon. Would you be able to snap some close ups of the plug or application you used to run your transceiver through the wall of the FF pod. I would be interested to see both sides inside and out and to know what you used for that; drill, diameter, or anything you can provide. I am running a Garmin 400C cable up out of the rod pod and under the lid, but don't really like it and may have to cut a notch into the rim under that lid to allow it to sit more flush. My FF wont fit into the Sonar Pod since it is a Garmin and not a Hummingbird, found this out after the fact and could not return my "special" deal on the Garmin. I have customized a mount to adapt to a Scotty mount and have mounted this to the top of the rod pod cover. Cheers Mike

Mike

I use the inexpensive rubber stoppers from kayakfishingstuff.com to run wires through the hull and seal it with marine goop unlike most guys who use the more expensive connector from west marine. Will send some pictures in about a week. for a rod pod installation I would use a flush mount scotty. You may want  to consider not drilling any holes and route your wires under the rod pod hatch. I have seen others do this. The downside is you will take on more water when your boat is inverted.

Looking good Scott.  i am in the process of figuring out mine right now.  I installed a pair of these on each side of the hatch, but they got in the way, so I released them  :smt003

Scott,

I like your outside gaff holder a lot. At the ready in a moment, yet not going to stab you either. Maybe you could goop on some 3/8" PVC tubing that would further protect the point?

About your compass - the last thing I'd want to be doing on an an unsettled ocean when the fog was in and the GPS was out, would be to be looking at a compass at my knees. There's a reason why compasses are traditionally mounted well forward on kayaks. Was there no way to mount it to the top/back of the fish finder cover? Flip the FF and cover down, and voila, there's your compass... Easy to glance at while keeping your eyes on the horizon 50 feet in front of the boat :)

Well Scott T was right about the compass so I moved it so all of my instruments are in the same field of view.

Added a removeable Perko lighting system for night fishing and heavy fog as well as a leader dispenser system. Borrowed the idea from Sean but I can access the leader without opening the box.

Pat -

Won't be fishing for a few months and will probably miss the sturgeon season this year. Will let you know if I get a chance to fish.

Thanks! Scott

Picked up my new Trident from yakhopper yesterday. Awesome deal, and a great shop too. I've started some long-range planning for the soon-to-start pimpout. What do you guys think?

Sean - that is a line retainer which comes attached to the leader spool. I moved it and added a line tensioner so the leader would be less likely to unspool.

Greg - uh that is too funny. You and PJ must be the life of Cambria. Looks like those engines may a little vulnerable to bird/fish strike.  :smt005 Congrats on your new ride. I have come to like the Trident 15 and use it for everything except Big Sur.
