Speedy recoveries Victor. No excuse for that as a kayak angler and boat owner. As Eric said, sue the s**t out od that bastard. It just breaks my heart that boat owners can be so negligent.  :smt011

Thank you everybody, I am very encouraged by all the well wishes and happy to see many people that I have known throughout the years surfaced and drop a note or two (although I am far from an OG).  I am doing really shitty physically and my mental states are up and down.  Mostly upbeat but the downs are very deep.  But I am trying my best and has no intention to lose this one.

@annieareyouok, i have followed and read your health issue article and posts, i wish you the very best for your recovery,  God speed to you as well!

Brandon, I would never forget my concern when i was watching you trying to make shore during high wind at OP.  You've certainly come a long way, a slayer status now  :smt007

There are countless other comments that I would like to respond to, and I will when I can use a bigger screen.  The smart phone is great for quickies, but hard to write something meaningful (aka longer piece).

I am also thinking about posting a Coastside piece when I am better, perhaps an FnS as well, but this is my choice of expression of my recovery chronicles right now.  There is a lot more going on behind the scenes, but most of it I will share in the future.

There is one lesson learned that I would like to point out.  If you see a boat coming your way, put 100% effort to get out of the way, dont bother trying to get attention of the captain (which is the natural reaction).  You see the same reaction in Die Hard vid as well.  If I had to do it again, that's what I would do. Getting away should be the default action and practice this so it becomes automatic.   I waited too long to get away, but it was a split second and I did enough so I popped out on the side instead of dragged under.

Holy shit dude! If this happened to Victor, it could happen to anybody. I am praying for you buddy. You are smart, strong, and you will overcome this. I know a personal injury attourney in Santa Cruz if you want to speak with someone for free advice.
Did the boat stop after it crashed into you?

Don't be too hard on yourself.  It's always easier in hindsight.

The decision to jump off and get out the way isn't an easy one. We don't have the same maneuverability. And I too give boaters a little too much good faith at times.

This atleast serves as example to many in safety. And many are glad you are alive.

Please focus on your recovery and remain optimistic!

if I'm not fishing I'm probably thinking about fishing

Victor, hope you have a full and speedy recovery.  Might not have helped in this case but an air horn should be in everyone's quiver when PBs are around (they carry them).
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

A Steelhead always knows where he is going, but a Man seldom does.

It was me, I am happy to be alive. At trauma center now, fractures everywhere, including some Ls that are a mess. Hopefully I get to update everybody if I make it.

wishing you a speedy recovery - take care,
Brian.

Yeah boats are loud when they’re running high throttle so who knows if they would’ve heard a horn. Air horns are pretty loud though and worth a try

I don’t carry a lot of safety gear but I did carry a horn for a while and after this one when I get back to fishing will carry it again. Imagine they should be pretty inexpensive
