This 8 is great but I'd trade for a 4 and not hesitate!  Let me know if you have a 4# ball you'd like to trade, I need a backup.  PIF.

I make my own these days.   I fill an about 12” length of 1.5” ABS with lead and add a brazing wire loop.

What's it filled with?

Pouring molten lead into ABS? Sounds healthy  :smt001

I was guessing it's filled with concrete, not lead, but can't really tell from the picture.

The DR balls that I use are coated cast iron (they sell them at Bass Pro), and I think they work as well as lead.

Lead.   I tape over the bottom of the pipe, and have a small wood box.  Put the pipe in the box and fill around it with DRY sand.  I have pot I bought at thrift store and melt the lead on my crab cooker.  Use face shield and outside and pour the lead in.   I still have about 50# of lead I bought at a $1 a pound from a guy who use to scrap boats and sold the lead in Craigslist.  It does partially melt the plastic, but the sand keeps everything in shape.  And the plastic makes a nice non marking cover for the weight.

I've heard of people filling copper pipe with lead:

But since copper is so expensive, it makes sense to try something else, although I'm surprised ABS isn't vaporized...
