I was reading through the 2021-2021 CA fishing regulations noticed something a VERY interesting new addition which states that Calaveras and San Antonio reservoirs are open to fishing all year providing artificials and barbless hooks are used. Now just need to figure out how to access these reservoirs without getting fined for trespassing....

Unfortunately, this is a bit of a moot point and definitely misleading. As a Hydro Tech for the USGS, I run the reservoir stage gages at both San Antonio and Calaveras reservoirs, as well as the associated stream gages.  I visit both of these reservoirs on the monthly basis. Both are managed by SFPUC, securely located behind locked gates, and never open to the public .   :smt012

But let me tell you, there are ALOT of BIG LM bass in both of these lakes!!!!  Very naïve, inexperienced, friendly bass. :smt005  I was once wading in waste deep water and hammering a Tpost into the bottom. A group of 6+ nice bass showed up to watch me work, apparently attracted by the sound of my sledge hammer pounding the Tpost. Another time, I was tossing small pebbles to a similar group of bass and they were competing for first bite.  Man...To pitch them them a weightless plastic worm would be silly fun. Clearly they have never seen a 7" Roboworm in Aarons Magic :fishing1

Yes, I'm very curious as to why they added this reg. knowing full well that the public won't have access. I've always dreamt about fishing these unpressured waters and your story is just more fantasy fuel.
