On Bayside Marine, they often mention "three trees", but I don't know where it is located. This link gives GPS coordinates, but I'm not sure if it's correct:

Google maps says that’s 4 miles from the Santa Cruz harbor. I thought it was farther than that.

It really isn't, but the problem for yak is that you have to go there, troll and find the fish, then back.  So, its a big commitment, unless you have a motor  :smt007   Your afternoon back can be assisted by the wind, but the way there and trolling/finding fish are all on you.

Also, the three tree general area extends to about 2+ miles toward the west side of the mentioned starting point, depending on who you ask.  If you go further southwest about 4-6 miles or so, that was tuna territory last year.
Maybe some of the boaters can correct me if I am way off base.

3 Trees is roughly halfway between Santa Cruz and Davenport. You can actually see 3 trees on shore. It's a mile or so from land.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

They might be gone. Last time I fished there was 20 years ago!

You're way off base. And, that google map pin is way wrong.  We were often fond of saying "Lotta trees over there." We had two trees, four trees, one tree... My recollection is the original three trees (Yes I've seen them) were above Wilder Ranch and below Four Mile Beach. As a practical matter if there's a salmon bite at Three Trees, you have nearly as good a chance in 180-240 FOW off of Natural Bridges or the Wilder area, with a nice sail home.

What about if the salmon bites are at Davenport, is the same bite, perhaps, applicable at Three Trees, or even up front of Natural Bridges/Wilder area?  What club do I need to join to find out?

That sounds like a plan.

I was thinking about heading out to that area today, but it was bumpy and surprisingly cold due to the fog, so I decided to make a short day of it and just dinked around, mostly in 50-60 fow. There is a _lot_ more bait than I'd seen so far this year, and that's got to be a good sign of things to come...

You made me a believer, I have vowed to fish the local water more this year.

I'll keep you posted! I plan to get out regularly and if the salmon are ever within my range, they'll easily be within your souped-up-AI range...

Bayside has been mentioning 3 trees a lot lately, and that's why I asked. If the winds had looked better, I would've given it a try today--hopefully soon!
